It is like an earlier poster said. It really depends on your interest. I prefer linear story driven games like the Last of Us and Uncharted 2. I hated the messy Uncharted 3. LOL. I couldn't stand GTA4. After killing a few people with cars and a couple horrible gunplay shootouts I was done. I will pass on GTA 5. Next to Ucharted 2 TLOU is my favorite game of the gen. I'm 43 and have other interests than video games so I wonder how age demographics play a part of it. I would think the TLOU would favour the older generation for the most part while GTA5 would be a perfect senseless teenager mayhem game.

Great game but the linearity of the levels can be a pain at times. I do hope ND tries to expand upon that segment of their games in next generation. I love that they want to a great strong story but want to see a step up in game play also. I do like the crafting in this game and the different ways you can attack enemies. This is a welcomed change from the mess that was Uncharted 3. Definitlely a 90-95 game. Not perfect but worth playing. I got over 18 hours in my first play through with lots of explorations and playing on hard. I'm playing on new game plus on hard and should finish the game in around 10 hours. A great overall game but it does have some limits which is why I can't give it a perfect score.
I disagree with Tom's idea that the AI is groundbreaking and sometimes you the gameplay is not consistent. I think ND does a great job letting you know if the level is going to be guns ablazing or you can use stealth. It would be a boring game if you could use stealth the whole game. I do wish there were mods for the guns and bow but I guess this isn't tomb raider in that realm. It wants to keep with the theme of the game. Overall I really enjoyed the game but definitely not perfect but probably the best game this year and top 5 this gen. I'm just glad ND redeemed themselves after UC3 being such a horrible single player experience.

Huh? The lead protagonist who say looks like Nathan Drake doesn't die. What game are you talking about? LOL.
Oh, I didn't play it but I don't mind spoiling the ending for myself, I thought maybe that's what he was suggesting... yeah haven't played it, will one day.Well the thread carried spoliers and people already mentioned that Joel lived. So I know I didn't destroy it for you if you were acutally reading the other threads. LOL. The game has a great story and leaves stuff in a grey area but very black and white for Joel. I didn't even correlate whe he was holding Ellie at the end that it emulated when he was holding his real daughter at the beginning. ND redeemed themselves after a horribly written UC3.
1. Uncharted 2, 2. The Last of US. 3. Mass Effect 2, 4. Tomb Raider, 5. Alan Wake. Honorable mentions Heavy Rain, and Rachet and Clank Tools of Destruction. Of course as you can see I like story driven video games the best. I guess I need to add UC3 due to the Co-op which I play a lot and also like the first Mass Effect. I never played ME3 as I couldn't get my story to carry over from ME2 on the XBOX 360 so I just quit trying. LOL.

Out of 61 counted reviews so far, 30 publications in total gave the game a 10. Out of those I feel Edge giving it a 10/10 is a pretty big deal! Not just the score, but the words they wrote to express their thoughts on the game. It was interesting.

Why even use ign? Eurogamer gave it a 10/10 or Game trailers... In fact you can choose among dozens.W1NGMAN-
Actually, it makes me wonder... Do people actually read reviews? Destructoid, Eurogamer, Giant Bomb (Patrick Klepek), Rev3 (Adam Sessler), and Edge's The Last of Us reviews are all very well written. They all touch on flaws in the game's design as well as things that make it excel.
Exaclty, I think that actual written review tells a much bigger and clearer story. Sure we haven't played the games ourselves but when I get done reading a Review from Giantbomb, IGN, and Adam Sessler they all were moved in a certain way that has me believing this is one of the greatest games ever created; an absolute must buy but for whatever reason Tom McShea review reads quite differently. I'm curious to see how he expresses himself on the next Gamespot Gameplay podcast (There in a conversation format is usually where I get an understanding of where a reviewer is coming from)
PS This is the same guy that gave Halo ODST a 9, Zelda a 7.5, and now The Last of Us an 8 ... just putting things in perspective :P
ign review is garbage, but I agree Adam sessler's review was really well done and he did mention the ai issues but seem to understand why they were in there. If u had the ai's like Ellie spotted all the time since they weren't in cover you would have even less stealth. It would be an all out gun fest and that is what nd wanted to avoid. I'm sure on next generation of consoles nd can get around this issue.Lems are jelly because TLOU is going to win every award out there.

Well except here were it flopped! LOL! I can't wait to play this flop though. My most anticipated game of the year.
I'm sure you were trying to be funny (your bad at it) http://www.alexa.com/topsites #4 most popular site in the world.I've honestly never came across someone whose visited Yahoo more than once.

Yahoo still exists?

Well I guess you can count me in. I have 3 yahoo mail accounts. I gues I'm old school though. LOL.
Too bad it flopped here. 27 out of the 54 reviews are 100's with a 96 on Metacritic. Wow this game is doing great but yes it is a flop here. How did TM love UC3 better than this game. I know UC3 was easier. LOL.

I bet Super600's face is ready to explode.

I was off by .5.I still can't believe this happened anyway.
[/QUOTE yeah I was expecting a 9.0 or at the lowest 8.5 as I know gs is tough for giving real high scores but an 8.0 is shocking. I will try out the game and see if it is more UC2 quality which is perfect to me or UC3 which was pretty subpar. I hope for the prior. Is it only me or does it seem that Mr. McShea downgrades games for being too hard.
