is there a limited number of days you have to do quests before the game "ends" on you? the only reason i ask is because of the fact that with this entry to the series, you only get to do one job request per day, no more doing four during an outing at the same cave. im just worried that this will make things feel rushed, that you only have x number of in game days before the ending comes and youre left with a whole bunch of extra missions left to do. i know there is quite a bit of post game content, but i was just wondering. im not sure how the previous games in the series handled this (i have played every one of them, but have only beat blue rescue team back when it first came out). so, long story short, do you have a limited amount of time to accomplish what you want before the game rolls its credits? thanks in advance to any repliers. :)

p.s. i love this game! already sunk almost 10 hours into it. my team is doin great so far. :D

so i just used a medicine bottle cap to make a magnagate and the name of the dungeon was called "healing cavern." does whatever you use affect what the cavern is called? i know that the bigger the object is the more difficult the dungeon tends to be, but i was wondering if the object impacted the name of the dungeon at all. i can only imagine what the dungeon would be called if this was the case and you used a toilet or something, haha. but either way, i thought it was kinda cool. anyone else have a similar situation? :)

gotcha, thanks so much for all the responses! hrm, ill definitely have to give it another go because i really want to enjoy this series, dagnabit. i love games with this kind of back bone so i really dont know why i wouldnt enjoy monster hunter. maybe now that im a bit more familiarized with the set up (i knew about it previously but didnt really take it into consideration too much) ill be able to really sit down and stick with it. because it sounds like one of the most rewarding experiences a video game could offer its player. :)

hey guys, so i downloaded the demo and im loving the game. ive always greatly enjoyed the pmd series (blue rescue team has my favorite story of any video game ive ever played) and exporers of time and explorers of sky were great too.

so, my question about gates to infinity is if your basic attack will always do just 5 damage, no matter what level you are. every time ive entered a magna gate and played as a lvl 12 snivey/tepig combo their basic attack always does just 5 damage as well. this is kind of a bummer to me, because i never liked using the skills exclusively, especially if its a super weak pokemon..then its like a waste of pp (when you only have 12ish uses to start with) just to kill it in one hit. but if you use just the basic attack, youre only doing 5 damage every time so it takes forever to ko the opposing pokemon/you die trying.

and im actually not overly fond of the fact that you dont get to play as your own team for the magna gates. its definitely nice that the items/poke get transferred over to your main game though. hm, just my thoughts on that.

also, im kind of on the fence with the whole "you have to hold L to bring up the moves option," its just kind of a hindrence to me which is why im wondering about the basic attack ever doing any more than 5 damage. other than that (sorry if im kind of nit picky, im never nit picky about video games) im really looking forward to this games release. i have it pre ordered and i cant wait to start playing the rest of the game!

my starter is axew named teho and my partner is oshawatt named rettick. theyre a pretty great combo, if i do say so myself. :)

hey everyone, so i picked up this game on release day cause i had pre-ordered it. etrian odyssey is 110% my kind of game. im in love with first person dungeon crawlers and the anime aspect is just another bonus for me. i love the "collect loot by killing monsters and sell said loot as materials to buy better equipmet/armor" aspect. i always have with this series, it adds such a feeling of accomplishment when you finally have that extra fawn hide to make that 85+ damage-giving bow for your archer. mhhm i love it, so satisfying. :D

so anywho, i have all three of the previous games in the series with III being my favorite (IV running a close second, if not tieing) and the difficulty has always proved to be interesting. one of my favorite things about this series is in fact the way it "throws" you into a FOE battle and then you get obliterated. yeah, it sucks..but i get massively determined to head right back in there and smite it to smitherines. i literally wont give up on that one FOE/enemy until i can kill it by auto battling it. the. best. feeling. ever.

so..is this determination maybe the reason why i think this game is actually TOO easy? im thinking im just really used to the previous games so maybe its just cause im so familiar with the setup of the EO series that im finding the battles/FOES to be too easy. the only battle ive had difficulty with is the bounding beast, and soon after i can beat them without a problem. i just miss that challenge/sense of immense accomplishment that is lacking (based on previous entries for me) with EO IV. its still there, but not nearly as prominent in my oppinion. im in love with this game still, for sure. and im on "normal" difficulty because there isnt a "hard" mode. and i honestly cant imagine playing on "casual" because if im finding "normal" too easy, then id be very sad if i played "casual."

im guessing im probably in the minority for sure with this topic, but i was wondering what you guys thought? am i dillusional or something? haha. and sorry for the massive post..i tried to separate it with enough paragraphs to make you not want to impale your eyes with sharp objects. :P

i guess i'm kind of in a pickle of sorts. i love monster hunting games (get a quest, go out and kill monster(s), collect their loot/body parts to sell/upgrade equipment, etc), but for whatever reason i couldn't enjoy/get into monster hunter freedom unite on psp, which i downloaded onto my vita about a year ago. since then, i've tried to play it again multiple times, starting a new story and character but something turns me off while i'm playing.

i think the main thing is the fact that everything the character does is soo slow. in my oppinion, he runs and swings his sword two miles an hour..which makes me loose health and pass out way too quickly. for example, the last time i tried to replay the game (a while ago..) i had to fight a group of raptor-type monsters and literally they all would gang up on me and before i barely had a chance to get back up after they knocked me down, i'd be on the ground again. so i'd try running away and theyd catch up to me two seconds later cause my guy runs so slow. D:

so i don't know if it's me being dumb or what, and i know that the weight of the gear/weapon plays a role in the speed of the units actions but its just such a pain in the beginning at least. i'm in love with the god eater series and burst is one of my favorite games i've ever played. so i suppose my question is this: should i try this one for the 3ds? i know the demo will be out shortly and i'm definitely downloading it. but i was curious to see what others thought of my predicaments with this particular series. i really want to like the monster hunter series of games, so i'm hoping there is a way for me to enjoy it more than i have in the past. :)

hey forte, i just called a little earlier in the day just to confirm if i had in fact preordered this game and lo and behold, i did! hooray! and when i asked if anyone at the gs knew when theyd be getting any/all copies of the game, the guy i talked to said to just try and call back tomorrow. i wish someone knew for sure when the stores would get the game, seeing as how tomorrow im gonna be stuck at work from 8:45-5:45..but im definitely calling on my lunch break to see if they have it, and if they do..its straight to the store for me at 6:00! :D

yeah, unfortunately i came to that same conclusion. but thats okay, the fact that the demo is only for the first couple maps makes it okay to replay when the game actually comes out. so thats good in my book. oh, and thanks for responding to my two posts halfmask, i didnt think anyone was gonna respond. so thanks for the responses. :D

i love the purple, its such a handsome color. i think its a great color for this game, i really like the character models with this purple color for the 3ds..they fit perfectly. :] i honestly am not sure if i got the art book or not, i really hope so. the employee i talked to when i pre-ordered it didn't specify..do we know how soon you had to preorder the game in order to get the art book? i had preordered it tail end of December, early January. sometime around then, so heres to hoping it was soon enough!

i was just wondering if i was to download the demo today, would i be able to transfer that progress to the actual game when i get it on the 4th of february? if so, then ill definitely download it today. but if not, then ill hold off and just play the whole thing when it gets released. im not too keen on replaying everything the demo has to offer when i purchase the hard copy. i havent been able to find any information on this particular thing, so thats why i finally decided to ask. hopefully someone figures it out sooner rather than later. :P
