Less equals more?
I exclusively play Football Life/Become a legend mode though, and nothing really changed in this version over 2011 except for the less or more aspect, your team mates are rigid and play many stupid passes often being picked off and/or the ball miraculously heading directly to an opposing player even in the most outrageous ways.
Shooting is just as bad, sometimes being able to score from way out, or badly missing from within the box. As for tackling, that is awful and often results in a foul even without doing a sliding tackle, which now is just asking for a yellow card. I've also witnessed a few bugs, especially one incident where an offside should have been called but wasn't, and that player went on and scored - Yes I know what an offside is, this particular incident the opposing player was way behind, and talking 'way' behind the defensive line and received a long pass and no offside was called, I mean..it was obvious as anything.
Another reason, was playing a international friendly against Argentina, I could score 5 goals against them then past half-time the manager would bench me and then Argentina would then rally and go 5-0 to 5-6 or more and win. So restart the match, I score 4 goals and are 4-0 up at half time, I then time waste until the match ends so ensure a win - the manager then give a really poor rating, even though I scored all the goals and essentially won the match for our team, I mean really?
PES2012 compared to 2011 just feels like a step backwards, I also miss John Motson's awesome commentary from 2011, the commentary in '12 feels lacking.
Overall, I'm somewhat disappointed and I think I'll go back to 2011 for a better overall experience.
