I've played a lot of pokemon games and there really hasn't been one where I have been disappointed with and Pokemon X is no exception. Before I start talking about this game I would first like to talk about my experience with the pokemon series as a whole. The first generation of pokemon was amazing I have a pokemon Blue review if you want to hear my point of view on it. The second generation of pokemon is well... amazing another huge improvisation for the pokemon series. The third generation of pokemon is again... amazing I also have a reivew for sapphire if you want to read my opinion on that as well. Then their is the fourth generation of Pokemon, this is wheir I kind of lost interest in the pokemon series and I never picked up this series of pokemon, so I don't really have an opinion when it comes to this generation. The fifth generation of pokemon I did not pick up until later, I did pick up Pokemon Black 2 and I do really like it. When I first saw Pokemon X and Y I wasn't really sure If I wanted to get it, because I have played pokemon so much would their really be a difference? Their was a huge difference and I loved every moment of it, and to be honest it was the first pokemon game that I actually couldn't wait to play.

Story: For the first time in a pokemon game their is a pretty well developed story. Basically the plot is based around you and some of your friends raising pokemon to the best of their ability, and also around Team Flare. I know what you are thinking why is Team flare any different from Team Aqua, Team Plasma, Team Rocket ETC. Well to be honest their really isn't a difference, but the point of their group is following their leader Lysandre's belief of making the world beautiful, and doing this at any cost. First off before I go on talking about the rest of the story I wanted to talk about Lysandre. When I first saw this guy and they were trying to hide his identity with Team Flare, I knew right off the bat that he was the leader, who wouldn't know? I mean just look at his character design it just screams it. I get that they wanted him to look cool and I have no problem with that, but I just wished they would have shown him later in the game as their leader with no one acting suprised that he was Team Flares leader I know this is a nitpick but I just felt like it was too easy figuring this out. While you journey to get your eight badges you will have to fight Team Flare off and stop their evil plan which I will get too later.
Presentation: Pokemon X is the best looking pokemon too date, and that should be no surprise but this is a huge overhaul from the fifth generation. The graphics are finally in 3d and they look unbelievable. The pokemon animations and look of the battle have been tremendously changed for the better and my God their absolutely superb the best animation yet and it's just amazing to watch. The new pokemon designs our a bit of hit and miss with me for this new generation of pokemon, you got the pokemon that looks like a keyring, I know this isn't very original but I guess it's not the worst idea, but come on guy I know you got more brainpower then that, and then their our some really great pokemon designs like Greninja, he's pretty cool, my summarization of generation 6 pokemon is not bad but could be better and to be honest I think my biggest gripe with it is the lack of pokemon, only about 60 more pokemon added, come on, I know they might add more in Pokemon Z which I know they our going to make due to the fact that they have made a 3rd iteration to every pokemon later in the generation since the first generation and it makes sense that they our going to make Pokemon Z because the other big legendary pokemon in this game starts with a Z and that's the whole reason they called this generation of Pokemon X and Y because its the first name of the legendary's, but I totally got off topic, I just hope they add more pokemon later on is what I am trying to say. The soundtrack in this game isn't as great as gen 3 or 2 or even 1 for that matter but on it's own merit's it has a pretty good soundtrack, nothing that will blow you away, but their are some enjoyable tunes in it. When it comes to presentation Pokemon X knocks it out of the ballpark.

Gameplay: Pokemon X has some huge changes to it first off you got a new type the Fairy type to keep Dragon type in check and it's great. In fact I had two fairy type pokemon and they were really strong, so I definitely like the new type, its a nice addition. Their is something known as super training where you can help your pokemon stats by playing games, which is pretty cool. You can now customize your character to make him look the way you want him to look this is another great addition. You also got a Pokebank that can store pokemon to start a new play-through and be able to keep those pokemon, and it also lets you transfer pokemon from Black and White. Another addition is sky battles, which are battles in the sky and horde battles which are battles against pokemon hordes, to be honest I wasen't too crazy about these. The biggest thing everybody wanted to see in this game though, was the mega evolution and boy it didn't disappoint, when I first did this I felt freaking awesome, they are an amazing addition and I hope that they continue with this through the series. So now that the new additions are done lets talk about the old. First off the first three pokemon you can choose, lets be honest, their not the most interesting pokemon you can pick but I think most people would pick Froakie, and to be honest I really liked him in the long run. If you don't like these starting pokemon, you can pick a pokemon from the first generation, which got me really nostalgic when I picked one, and also if you picked Pokemon X up early you got a free Torchic, yeah pretty awesome huh. When it comes to the adventure of Pokemon it's pretty much the same, but it's still as fun as it has always been, their is a ton of pokemon to catch, and the gym's designs are extremely creative and truly amazing. The only problem I would say that I have with Pokemon X is the difficulty, if I'm being honest it's the easiest pokemon to date and I really didn't lose once in my whole play-through, maybe I picked the right pokemon, or maybe I just trained them right, but like I said I never lost once. This really isn't a flaw but I hope next time they tone the difficulty up just a little more.

(Spoiler Alert)
Near the end of the game you must stop Team Flares evil plan, they are trying to resurrect a legendary pokemon to get rid of the worlds imperfections and they must kill pokemon just to resurrect it.(pretty dark? huh) and they plan on doing away with most of the human populace also, yeah... not the kid game you expected huh? After you beat Lysandre you will battle Xearneas, after you beat him or catch him. you will stop the machine and save the day. After this experience you will hear about a man who made this machine to resurrect a pokemon he loved that died in a pokemon war, once resurrected the pokemon he had notices that he has become someone different and leaves him. The reason this is realavant is because after you beat the elite four, you must defeat him, and once you do he realizes his mistakes and his pokemon comes back to him. This makes for an amazing story and the best one in a pokemon game yet.

Overall Pokemon X is probably not my favorite in the series, but that doesn't mean that I don't love this game immensely. I went into this game thinking this was going to feel the same as any other pokemon and I was pleasantly surprised that this was something special too me, in fact it kind of reminded me of when I first picked up Sapphire, a whole different experience that I loved every step of the way. If you are a pokemon fan this is a must have you will not be disapointed, and if you are not this is still a fun addictive game worth getting and would be a perfect start for you to become one.
