A good Pokemon game.

User Rating: 9 | Pokemon Stadium Kin Gin Crystal Version N64
I used to play this all the time when I was younger. Several months ago, I even pulled the N64 from the closet, and started playing it a bit again. It's just a fun game, although it can get boring after a while.

Gameplay: The battles are simple and basic. 1 vs. 1 Pokemon duels, 4 moves each, taking turns. Simple, and similar to the original Pokemon games. It's also pretty fun. There's a nice number of minigames when you don't feel like battling. These were a huge improvement from the predecessor's minigames. There's more of them, and they're much more fun. There's also a Library and Pokemon school type thing. This can be nice to research Pokemon and items and things of that nature. And in the School, you learn tips of battling from an overexcited guy while you battle conceited students who all think their Pokemon are the best, while you just happen to have Pokemon that perfectly oppose theirs each time. I never really played the story or stadium much, I liked Free Battle.

Characters: One of my favorite things about this game is that all the Pokemon are available for rental. (Except the legendary ones, primarily) Including the Kanto and Johto Pokemon.

Graphics: Graphics are nothing special, they're basically the same as Pokemon Stadium, which isn't really a bad thing. Although most of the moves have been redone, and most of them are improved.

Sound: The sound is one of the weaker points of the game. Pokemon have weird cries, I don't know if these were actually from Pokemon Gold or Silver. But Pikachu makes this weird noise that's impossible to type. It doesn't give the Pokemon enough character. Pikachu just doesn't feel like Pikachu. There's also this deathly annoying announcer with very typical announcer like lines and voice. "OH! THEY'RE DOWN! THEY'RE BOTH DOWN!!" So exciting. "Sparks are flying in this heated battle." while the Pokemon stand in their little spots and stare at each other. However, the sounds made when a certain move is used usually goes well with the type of attack.

Overall, Pokemon Stadium 2 is a good game that can still be fun when played after a long hiatus. It's also good if you can actually find someone who would play this with you. Unlike Pokemon Battle Revolution, you don't need Pokemon Gold or Silver to enjoy this game, I enjoyed it without it. "AND THERE GOES THE BATTLE!"
