Great re-imaging of a classic! Good game if you want to play FPS old school.

User Rating: 8.5 | Perfect Dark X360
I was a junior in college when this game originally came out and very skeptic about whether it could replace our 007 Golden Eye all-nighters we had been having on the N64. I looked at the cover and thought "the chick is hot, so why not?" and played it. The solo-campaign on Perfect Dark was much better then its 007 Golden Eye predecessor, but the multiplayer seemed all too familiar. My buddies didn't seemed to concerned with learning a new game. So this game was not on my list of top memorable games, but could have been if I weren't in college at the time.

Now because this is a re-birth for this game, I will judge it on that. I pulled out my old N64 console and game, and compared it side by side on two 36" monitors. The re-released version for XBLA has truly enhanced the sound, visuals and even the game speed over the original. As a matter of fact I really didn't think the graphics from the N64 version were that bad until I booted up the old game and compared the two. It is crazy how our mind makes things from our past seem so much better then they actually are. Now if you have never played Perfect Dark or know nothing about it, don't misunderstand what I am saying about the graphics. They are enhanced remakes of the original. So compared to FPS of today they will seem weak.

I also believe that this game is truly suited for the controller layout for the xbox 360. As a matter of fact you can choose a controller layout similar to one of the more modern games like Call of Duty or Halo. This game rocks in multiplayer mode because of the ease of controls, almost anyone can pick it up and play.

Now for those gamers out there that have never played Perfect Dark you may not care for this game that much. As a matter of fact you might question why this game was ever so cool. Well if it weren't for games like 007 Golden Eye or Perfect Dark, multiplayer mode for FPS games could not have progressed to the point where they are at now. So my suggestion to you is give the game a chance, download it as a trial. If you appreciate it for what it has done for FPS gaming, buy it. If not all you have to lose is the hard drive space that was temporarily taken up.

For us older gamers out there who appreciate the pioneers of gaming, this one is a must have.
