If you like horror games without the exaggerated bloodshed, but with goosebumps around every corner, this is your game!

You don't know what to expect. Literally. When you buy Penumbra: Black Plague all you can rely on is the cover with the eerie images. And of course the hearsay and the GameSpot review. But for my own part most horror games give me rather something to laugh about than the necessary creeps. Condemned 2 is a classic in this genre, but Penumbra BP in all it's brilliant simplicity navigates proudly in it's slipstream.

You have to play the game with headphones on and the lights down low. The sound effects are incredible and contribute for 50% to the ambiance. Spooky!
I am a 'controller' freak. In other words, I prefer a controller in stead of a keyboard and a mouse. But this game handles well this way. The graphics aren't very 2009, but that's not necessary with a game like this that plays with your nerves in an excellent way.

Penumbra: BP is a first person horror adventure. You have to escape from an underground base with help from stuff you find exploring the surroundings. This can be various notes or items which you have to use or remove on your path finding your way out. The puzzles you encounter are challenging for the most part. If you really don't know what to do, you can use the hints by simply clicking the right button or the notes you found. But all in all you can complete the game without using a walk-through or whatsoever.

But be aware: you are not alone. There are creatures lurking in the dark or looking at you from the other side of a (still closed) windowed door. You can't see them (sometimes in a flash, which gives you the creeps), but you know they are there. And the point is, WHEN will you meet them and in what way... Will you find your way out before they will find you? This insecurity, this feeling, this torment is simply playing with you.

Let's face it: you want to play a horror game, because you want to feel the shivers with every step you take. Well, don't hesitate. Play Penumbra: Black Plague!
