While I was disappointed that they didn't bring out Ms. Pac-Man, this filled a small part of the void until they do.

Like the other oldy-but-goody Namco game in the Xbox Live Arcade, Galaga, Pac-Man is a pretty faithful rendition of a great game that is missing a few things that just don't make it a solid release. That isn't to say the game isn't fun, but it would truly be a great addition to your collection if it had these key elements.

First and foremost on the list of things that should have been...MULTIPLAYER. Hell, there is even a 2 player score in the game...But NO two player option anywhere. While this may be frusterating in Galaga, it's a travesty to Pac-Man and it really makes no sense at all. Having the phantom score up there leads me to believe a patch is in the works, but still...

Aside from that, the game is faithful, but due to the controller not having the same feel as an arcade stick, the controls take some getting used to. Sometimes it's not uncommon to miss your turn, or even turn completely around because you didn't hit the stick just right. Like most things, you can get used to the controls and not really notice the differences, it's just one of those things.

The sounds, graphics, etc is all pretty faithful. No surprises, no let-downs. Widescreen folks will get treated to some neat semi-background graphics while playing. The rest of the package is pretty good, considering it's a 400 pointer.

Like with Galaga, Namco added a level select feature, which makes the achievements all too easy to get. While it probably serves as popping in another quarter and continuing, it takes most of the challange out of the game entirely.

As you can see, despite my being an enormous Pac-Man fan, the game satisfies in some departments and baffles in others. For 400 points it's hard to complain, but since this game is readily available in Namco collections, and even Ridge Racer, it makes it even less appealing.
