I was spiritually pained when (after playing this game) it was announced that the studio would make no more games. Strangers Wrath is filled with character, inventiveness, adventure, fun and friggin hilarious weapons that make capturing/killing bad guys varied, fun, funny and just plain unique. Hit them with an electric bug and wrap them up in a spider? Or pummel them with a large curled up snail and just bag em? Make them immobile from pukeing or lure them away from the group with an annoying rodent? Its up to you. Combine all that with a great protagonist and a compelling story, good and colourful graphics, funny bosses, wonderful environments and you have a game that is immediate passed over by most gamers. Yup, you are all idiots for not giving this game a chance. It is the most refreshing take on a FPS in all the years I've been playing games. It's funny and heartfelt with a badass hero with a heart of gold and some serious steel fists. The sound is good (I dont know what GS was talking about on this one), the gameplay is new and fun, characters and voice acting is great and it is just a joy to be in the world. Switching 3rd person to 1st is instinctive and it's confusing why no one has done it so well up till this game or since this game. Other then the creative aspects of its presentation the strength of the game really does come from the weapons. There are always many different ways you can go about most situations, all fun and all basically the risk. So how you take out a bunch of baddies is up to you. But it’s not perfect. There is only one difficulty setting and it aint the hardest thing in the world nor is there additional content or multiplayer. So other then the 15 hour campaign there isn't a whole lot more reason to play it again, but I did play it through again, a couple of times. Another fault is the bosses all play slightly similar, the same weapon combo being the most effective and only real option for defeating them. There is also a lack of enemy variety, and despite so many ways to take them out, it all ends up with them being stunned for a few moment while you capture them. So you end up standing beside them regardless of how you disabled them, putting you right out in the open. The game is like $10 now, so these faults are not just easy to overlook. At that price, those faults give the game even more charm. Lastly, I would just like to say that I am not easy to impress with FPS games. I love em but the genre is just so stagnant with military, WWII and lame sci-fi rip offs that to play this game made me love video games again and what they can do. Which is almost anything.
