I don't get it

I'm sorry, I see all the positive reviews here, but after 6 hours playing this, I just gave up. There are a lot of cool ideas here, but it didn't come together for me. Maybe it was trying to be too cute, or too many different gameplay elements, or just that it was too dark to see anything on my monitor (no gamma control), but I just was not having fun and gave up somewhere about 6 hours into it.

Technically it was a great game, the sound and graphics some of the best I've seen on the xbox. But I just couldn't get into it and had enough after 6 hours or so.
