After the release of the first No More Heroes on the Wii, how could Ubisoft possibly top its predecessor? Well, they went back to the drawing board, looked at all the flaws the first game had, fixed those flaws, and brought us one helluva sequel. This is No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, an exclusive to the Nintendo Wii released in 2010. In NMH2, you play as Travis Touchdown, as he is on a mission to restore his reputation by winning back the title of #1 assassin in the world, and also to avenge his best friend's death at the hands of Jasper Batt Jr., the head of Pizza Batt and the current title holder of #1 assassin in the world. Starting at only rank #51, it looks like Travis has a lot of work to do. The combat in NMH2 improves on the original in every way, as you can perform new combos, and awesome finishing moves that completely demolishes your enemies. The game is kinda funny too, as the characters have their own sense of humor. The story is excellent, as the plot leaves you guessing until the end, also has some shocking moments, and some memorable scenes. The use of quicktime events are excellent in this game, as it gives you more than enough time to react. There are lots of old video game references and cameos, one of them being that the opening boss looks exactly like Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII. There are many side quests in the game, as you can do things like earn more money by helping out with plumbing problems, you can be an exterminator, a pizza delivery guy and more, and these side quests are designed like old-school NES games! Also, you can go to a gym to increase your attack power, life bar, and stamina, there is a weapons store, and a clothes store so you can customize Travis' outfit. Overall, Desperate Struggle is an improvement over it's predecessor, however, it is not without problems. The camera angles are bad and can be your worst enemy when you're in a tight situation fighting some enemies or another boss. The game is a little bit on the easy side as most of the enemies only take a few hits for them to go down. Also, some bosses in the game are pretty easy, as they don't give you much of a challenge. NMH2 is a great game and a huge improvement over its predecessor, despite it's flaws. NMH2 should be easy to find on Ebay or Amazon for a few bucks, or you can just walk in to your local GameStop and pick up a used or new copy, it's all up to you. This game is a must have for Wii owners, pick this up whenever you get the chance.
