Though fairly bare-bones, NHL 07 is, at last, an improvement.

User Rating: 6.2 | NHL 07 PS2
Year after year, EA continues to re-release the same old NHL game with nothing but upadted rostes. Finally, there s a noticeable improvement.

As always, you are given your quick exhbition game, a season to play through, a playoff game and a dynasty mode, where you have certain goals to accomplish. You are also given the option of playing in the European leagues.

Though similar on a presentation level, NHL 07's gameplay has been tweaked, making it a much better game overall from last year's.

First of all, the AI is much improved over last year's. That means that even though getting a goal is still challenging, it isn't nearly as hard as it has been, and games tend to have much more realistic scores.

The goals in dynasty mode have also changed for the better. Instead of having to do complicated things like finishing the season with a certain prophit, the new goals can all be accomplished by simply winning games (goals are things like "Make the playoffs.")

On top of playing through the NHL, you are also given the ability to creat your own players and teams. The customisation is limitless. You can edit the shape of a player's face, their size and choose what team they play on. If you create a team, you can choose wher they are located, their logo and make their jerseys. You can tehn substitue them for any NHL team in every mode except dynasty mode.

Though improved in gameplay, NHL 07's presentation is decent at best. The graphics have not been improved over the previous year's game. But that doesn't mean it looks bad by any means. The animations are all smooth, but there are a few jaggy lines here and there.

The sound, once again, is completely unacceptable. There are good audience sound effects, and some good music tracks, but we are once again forced to listen to the same old, uninspired comkmentary. It should have been redone.

So, EA has finally gone and made a better game. This is worth picking up if you want a good hockey experience on the PS2.
