Valve not announcing anything at E3

Valve confirms it will not make any new product announcements at this summer's Los Angeles trade show.
Valve will not announce Half-Life 3, any sequel to an existing franchise, or hardware at the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo, the company told GameSpot today.
"There are no new Valve product announcements planned for this year's E3," a Valve company spokesperson said.
This follows a Valvetime report from last week (via CVG) that indicated the firm would not make any announcements at E3 2012.
Valve cofounder Gabe Newell recently addressed the wait for Half-Life 3, saying that Valve has gone through numerous "twists and turns" to bring the long-awaited game to market and that remaining silent on the project is actually in the best interest of fans.
Prior to that, rumor had spread that Newell and Apple CEO Tim Cook met at Valve's headquarters in Bellevue, Washington. Newell quickly shot down this speculation, saying he would enjoy discussing ideas with Cook, but no such meeting occurred.
Valve is also rumored to be at work on a gaming system of its own, described as the "Steam Box." Speculation about this endeavor was further sparked last month, when several job listings at Valve were posted, calling for people to "invent whole new gaming experiences" and "research compelling new hardware technologies."

1 Like This could be another bad news for the famous e3 game show. I think gamers will just have to like the small scraps of games that the industry is turning into.I'm one of the people who does not like this at all. There are more games being cut than new title being invented for us.
See, what bothers me isn't the lack of Half-Life 3. It's the lack of communication with Valve to its fans who just want to know if there is ANY progress on the game. The more they remain silent, the more we start to assume they're not even working on it.
1 Like I must admit that I'm disappointed at this news. I'm not really interested in DOTA 2 or CS:GO, so getting an announcement on the status of any other project would have been welcome. Even more on their plans for Steam on Linux. Oh well... :(
I dont think see the daylight of day for half life 3 until next gen consles what might be long way
1 Like Once again Valve decides not to attend, let's hope this is to get Global Offensive and DOTA 2 finished off as best they can, so they can jump straight into developing Episode 3 for all their crowbar hungry fans!!!
According to the Exhibitor List for E3, Valve IS attending this year. But if they're not making any new announcements, I guess they will just be showing what they have on DOTA 2 and CS:GO. :/

1 Like Which doesn't say anything really. E3's not what it used to be. I's more ov an overpriced marketing gimmicry versus the industry folks getting together like it used to be. All message control and non-substance fluff. I'd rather hear what's coming from PAX. Valve pretty much does what they want and they don't play by to many other's rules.
No Half-Life 3 or Left 4 Dead 3... at E3 at least, maybe during the years later conventions something might pop up
