Borderlands 2 publisher says it has yet to announce plans on moving mature titles onto Nintendo platform; sees "great opportunity" in next-gen consoles.
While Nintendo has so far unveiled a number of core titles for its upcoming Wii U console, one publisher remains absent: Take Two and its slate of franchises, including Grand Theft Auto and BioShock.
According to a Gamasutra article, Take-Two Interactive is in no rush to bring its core franchises to Nintendo's new console. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told the publication the company has not announced anything about moving the company's mature titles onto the Wii U, saying he's skeptical about the console.
However, Zelnick said that he was eager for the next generation of game systems to kick off as a chance for the company to advance its position in the games industry.
"For a company like ours, it's a great opportunity," he said. "[New console launches] separate the winners from the losers--and we fully expect to be one of the winners."
Zelnick also revealed there are no plans to annualize the company's non-sports titles for fear of burning out the consumer's interests.
"We're not trying to create something good and market the hell out of it," he said. "We're trying to delight customers with something great--and market the hell out of it."

2 Like I think its funny that people think Nintendo doesn't care about the core gaming...when its the developers who choose not to support the console when Nintendo ask's them, while trashing it in the process. Nintendo does care about the casual market....but it also cares about the Hardcore Gamers (There have been quite a few Rated M games on every Nintendo Console since the rating system was first created), its just developers not giving them the chance which in turns makes simple minded gamers think Nintendo doesn't care for some reason.
@Philly1UPer The Wii was no place for "hardcore gamers". The controls alone didn't fit those games. There were some classic titles on the Wii, like Zelda, Mario and Donkey Kong Country Returns, but the control scheme and the system limitations made it impossible to have proper ports of games like Assassin's Creed or to have exclusives that are exciting as Gears of War and Uncharted. Now the Wii U can have such games, but in one or two years they're going to fall behind again. The next generation of consoles will finally catch up to the PC and the game developers will create games that aren't limited by the old hardware, and as soon as the first games hit, the Wii U versions will be what the xbox 360 versions of The Witcher 2/BF3/Crysis 2 are to the PC versions. Since the 7th generation, Nintendo has been releasing sub-par, outdated consoles. That's the problem.
Got my Xbox for Gears of War and Call of Duty and online gaming. Have my PS3 for GoW, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank etc. WiiU ......sorry you have no NEW create and exclusive games. What Zombie U.........I'll just play Left for Dead.......oh whats that you say you have PikMin 3.....sorry I'm a hardcore gamer.
@brgreen Being a hardcore gamer shouldn't stop you from enjoying casual games. Games like PikMin and Plants vs Zombies remain awesome.
Nintendo seem to have stumble into a dangerous area. Because the touch pads are drawing the casual gamers and Nintendo been ignoring many hobby gamers, it seem Nintendo does not have as wide of a consumer pool as they did when the Wii came out.
"for fear of burning out the consumer's interests" I work in the intellectual/creative world, and it would be nice to once hear them say "For fear of burning the staff out."
Nope skipping this experimental unit. Until they come out with a better one.
Wii had a problem of too much angry-birds bloat-ware not enough games. Only thing that i got a wii for was to play Zelda, the only game worth playing besides smash brothers.

@Legend002 If you would've told me 5-6 years ago that Nintendo was going to drop out of the Hardware business and go 3rd party, I probably would've been quite depressed. I love Nintendo.. I grew up playing their games and if it wasn't for them i probably never would've started this hobby of mine. But nowadays, The thought of Nintendo classics like Zelda or Metroid Prime coming out on the PC is something i could really get behind. My love of Nintendo notwithstanding.
dude you and me both i love played those games i remeber playin super smash bros with 300% damage so every hit was like a KO. but nintendo dosent care about us anymore it cares about the little kids that are 8 and 9 it sucks buts its there buiness plan and itll fail them in the end

4 Like @nyran125 Like the Wii, people will get the Wii U because of its plethora of first-party titles (Metroid, Star Fox, Zelda, Mario, Kirby, Donkey Kong, etc.) - the third-party support is a bonus. Ubisoft is investing heavily in the Wii U and has already slated a couple of exclusives for the console. If you think the Wii U is only going to get games from the past-generation, like AC 3 and Batman: AC, you're wrong.

Nintendo's only saving grace is their first party titles. That's the only way they sell systems. Everyone pays a couple hundred just to play a few Mario,Zelda and Kirby games.
The Wii U needs more games like GTA
I'm happy with the starting lineup so far with the likes of Batman Arkham City, Assassin's Creed 3, ZombiU ETC but Nintendo can't have major companies ignoring the Wii U
I also think that the power of the Wii U is enough, I'm happy with the way modern games look and certainly won't be disappointed if they stay as pretty as they are for another 10 years.

Ok but all of those games you listed are much better on the PC. GTA V on the PC will blow consoles away, and that's not even touching mods. The whole point of Nintendo is to get games you can't get anywhere else. If all 3 consoles had identical games, what is the point of having 3 consoles that play the exact same games? Exclusives is what makes each console unique. Take those away and we all might as well just be playing on the PC since it has better graphics and controls than all the consoles and games cost the least.

I agree that the graphics are better on the PC but the controls are not
Im not going to say that the Wii U is going to revolutionise the way we play but its certainly a step in the right direction with the new gamepad
As for exclusives ZombiiU, Pikmin 3 and Project P-100 are most certainly good enough for me
The PC is not and should never be considered a substitute for a console as its a different beast entirely
I don't want to come across as a nintendo fan boy as I'm far from it and if I'm honest i thought the Wii was a bad console for gamers like me and you, it was however a very good money making tool for nintendo.
@TheAdamUK Nah, they're better on the PC. For games that play better with a gamepad, all you need to do is plug in your X360 controller or logitech (if you favor the dualshock) and play as you would on a console, but with a higher FPS, better graphics and mods. The reasons you get any console over a PC are:
a) Exclusives.
b) Price.
c) Accessibility.
There are games released only on certain consoles, consoles are cheaper (and you're guaranteed to have the same hardware as anyone else using the same console, meaning a better optimization from game developers - which won't need to worry about multiple video cards and PC settings) and are easier to use (plug 'n play).

nintendo and his endless struggle to stop being called the little kids gaming company dont get me wrong some of those games are really fun, yet again still for kids hopefully they get some more mature tittles this gen and more public.

1 Like Just watched a ZombieU video. It looks as though Nintendo is finally playing catch up with the current gen of consoles - but in no way is the Wii U next gen.
From the looks of this new style of gaming, Nintendo already did this. Remember the Gamecube / GBA link? I don't remember is being all that groundbreaking - in fact, I remember it being an annoyance having to take your eyes off the main screen and look at another device.

OK so Take-Two isn't going to be on the wii-U yet a different game made by Gearbox (who makes Borderlands 2) i.e. Aliens: Colonial Marines will be on wii-U. So likely Gearbox can make a version of Borderlands2 for the WiiU but Take-Two doesn't want to. It makes so little sense to me really
