The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's Dawnguard digital expansion may never come to the PlayStation 3. Writing on the official Bethesda forums, a company representative explained that it has attempted to solve unspecified issues, but to no avail.

PS3 gamers may never get to play Dawnguard.
PS3 gamers may never get to play Dawnguard.

"Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard," the Bethesda representative explained. "We have tried a number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make Dawnguard good for everyone. Dawnguard is obviously not the only DLC we’ve been working on either, so the issues of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we’re positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to bring you this content" (emphasis added).

Dawnguard is the first expansion for Skyrim. It launched in June for the Xbox 360 and arrived on PC earlier this month. Earlier this week, Bethesda said it was "disappointed" that the content had not yet arrived for the PS3.

GameSpot's review of the Dawnguard content for Skyrim found the expansion to be an atmospheric and enjoyable return to the frigid lands of Skyrim. For more on the content, check out GameSpot's review and walkthrough of Dawnguard.
