PS Vita's only chance is when PS4 comes out people may want to play there PS4 games on the PS Vita and use the Vita touch screen as a controller for PS4..

PS Vita a 'little behind the numbers' says Sony

SCE Japan president acknowledges new portable has "a ways to go" before it is more widely adopted.
Sony has acknowledged that PlayStation Vita sales are not performing up to expectation thus far. Sony Computer Entertainment Japan president Hiroshi Kawano told Famitsu magazine (via Polygon) that the company's latest portable gaming device has "a ways to go."
"Certainly, at the present time, maybe we're a little behind the numbers we originally pictured," Kawano said. "I feel we have a ways to go in terms of getting across the good traits of the PS Vita, along with everything the software has to offer."
Kawano said Sony's plan for the PS Vita--and its other platforms--is for it to have a 10-year life cycle. He said Sony must "do everything we can" to support and add to the portable in the years ahead.
Earlier this week, Sony announced plans to cut the price of the 3G and Wi-Fi versions of the PS Vita in Japan to 19,980 yen ($213) effective February 28. No mention has been made of a similar price reduction for Western markets.
Explaining the Japanese price drop, Kawano said it was done simply to get more gamers playing the device.
"The biggest reason [for the price drop] is that we simply want to have more people playing the PS Vita," Kawano said. "Based on our research, there are two broad reasons why people who may want to try the Vita aren't purchasing it. One, they want to wait until there's a game they want to play on it. Two, the price is a little out of reach for them. What we also learned in this research is that people who do own a Vita have tremendous satisfaction with it; it's the kind of platform where you get a feel for how good it is once you touch it. But we found that the price was too big an initial hurdle for this, and this sparked a long internal debate within SCE."
All eyes will be on Sony this evening, when the company's 2013 PlayStation Meeting takes place in New York City at 3 p.m. PDT/6 p.m. EDT. GameSpot and its sister sites will be on hand for the event, which will be live-streamed.

But i do agree the more games the better... As long i can play my PSP Videos(Anime) on the Vita i'm happy... while playing Vita games like Persona... Or maybe even Soul Sacrifice(Looks good) i hope they'll support it all the way
It's taken them long enough to realise it's not flying off the shelves. Have they been in denial all this time or something? It would appear they still seem pretty confident that there's still a market for a dedicated portable games console, if they don't think the problem is lack of interest.
I'm the one of those who have tremendous satisfaction with it. I love this portable thingy so much :D
1 Like PSV is turning out to be another PSP. By the way Uncharted Golden Abyss is not a system seller. Uncharted Golden Abyss is a linear six hour game with no multiplayer. Only a massive fanboy would buy a three hundred dollar console to play a linear six hour game with no multiplayer.
All it needs is better games throughout the year and a sizeable price cut that will separate it from this next generation, and the sales will jump again. Also increasing the memory of those cards and dropping the price of those significantly would make the sales jump as well, but that's pretty unlikely sadly.
I was a more than a little disappointed that in order to have two different PSN accounts access a Vita (like me and my wife), you have to have separate memory cards for each account. That means that you have to have multiple copies of downloaded games if you each want to play them. And since they require PS Vita specific memory cards, you have to purchase their overpriced memory cards and can't use such memory standards as Sony memory sticks or SD cards. This whole thing has put off my wife to the Vita completely.
The Vita is excellent. But I'm not seeing any more development previews of games the quality of Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush. I know this doesn't mean they aren't coming, but it'd be great to get some more visibility on upcoming titles.

@Pete5506 I won't be getting one, but I don't want to see it fail not only for you guys, but also because it could only mean it's bad for the industry. Only time will tell, how much I don't know.

1 Like I am very happy with my Vita Wifi only model. Got it preowned. I was overall pleased with Gravity Rush, Persona 4 Golden, Sly Cooper and Zero's Escape. Army Corps of Hell was my only disappointment. Overall, the Vita is great if they focus less on apps and more on games, specifically making PSN titles such as Journey available.
@capturedrapture Yea. It could use more games, but I'm satisfied so far. Between Zero Escape, Gravity Rush, WipEout, Persona, and Ragnarok Odyssey I've had a good mix of a variety of different games.

Same problem as Wii U, no good game library yet...and $100 memory cards. 3DS is the better option right now, just like DS was over PSP. It could change though.

@WingChopMasta wasn't the vita supposed to have remote play with ps3 games and only a few of them actually used the feature, whereas the people who modified their console (PS3) had the feature on pretty much every ps3 game out there?

Now I am envious of the early adopters of the Vita because now my wallet is going to take a big hit since I will definatly be buying one along side the PS4 if MS fumbles this generation.

Do not get me wrong, it is true that most of those games are already out; However, what it is so bad about it? I don't know you tell me. People keep going back to that same point, it seems that playing video games (new or old) on an specific console, has become something to mock or joke about.
There are probably gamers (not the Nintendo loyalists) out there that were interested enough on purchasing the WiiU version of those games (even though they got really poor quality ports and missing features)... besides, isn't DIII coming to PS3/4? Exactly, so probably some gamers (in the PS3/4 install base) that are going to give this title a try... I do not see why it is so bad about it, yet people are making a big deal.
As I said before, only fools and/or trolls will get into arguments about technical specs. I was not arguing about the Vita's specs or what it can do, if you read my comments... so I do not know why you brought up what the Vita can do. Basically, I was answering an "awkward" argument/point that there are games, outside Nintendo's titles, that support Off TV Play, that are not necessarily catered for kids... so yeah even if they are old games.
Again, if you read my comments, you can tell that I am not boasting or downplaying either system. Each system will have their pros and cons, no matter what. Sony isn't making a perfect console, neither Nintendo or any other console manufacturer, because times changes and basically the console manufactures are trying to play catch up with people's demands.
@hitman047m4 but the thing is that most of those games are on anther system and yes you can play them off your tv but you have to be within a certain distance to it in order for it to work and once the ps4 get release and Sony does that remote play they talked about at the event you can play all your ps4 games anywhere in the world where you have internet connection on your vita which is way better

Last time I heard the following games featured TV Off play CODBO2, Darksiders 2, Batman Arkham City, Fifa 13, Little Inferno, ME 3, NBA2K13, Need for Speed, Tekken TT2, ACIII, Madden 13 and maybe more that I am missing.... and last time I checked none of those games are catered towards kids or are in any form and shape Mario games, lol.
Only a troll or a fool will start comparing both systems in their raw specs and details.... what is going to make both consoles (WiiU and PS4) unique from one another, is what developers can do with them using the consoles unique specifications.

I am sorry but the majority of the games mentioned in the post I quoted were kids games, plain and simple. I played Mario and loved it when I was a child and got my Nintendo..
You also cannot stream every game on the Wii U to the screenpad..only the kids games..aka Mario..
You can not tell me that any Wii U game can compare to what the PS4 will offer and allow to be played over the Vita using remote play..

Watch Dogs and Destiny are rumored to be in development for the WiiU as well, so I do not know what is your logic on that argument. Moreover, Blizzard did not announce exclusivity of DIII for the PS3/4, so that could be on the WiiU, as well as the other consoles... who knows maybe the OUYA will get it too.
So are you one of those who have selective memory? Because there are games catered for 12 years and under for the PS3, PSV and most likely for the PS4 (as well other consoles).
That is the beauty of diversity, and honestly out of the titles @djmaster1994 mentioned, probably the Mario 3D, Mario Kart.. and maybe Yoshi's Yarn (depending how they do the difficulty) will be games 12 years old and under can easily play; that is why they are rated E, so everyone can play them... not just kids.
Not so sure if we can say that MH3, Pikmin 3, Zelda WWHD, DQX, W101 and Lego City Undercover are straight games catered for 12 year olds and under.... Remember this, do not let looks deceive you ;).
