Capcom offering Dante's original outfit as DmC DLC

Three DmC skins, including one based on Dante's old look, will be sold for $4.00/£3.19/€3.99.
Ninja Theory's Dante will be going back to his roots in DmC: Devil May Cry via DLC, with the upcoming Costume Pack offering a 'classic' skin based on Dante's appearance in Devil May Cry 3.
Two other skins will be included in the pack alongside Dante's iconic red leather coat, white hair and bare chest: Dark Dante and Neo Dante, with the former offering a sleek blue coat and the latter Converse sneakers, a ragged t-shirt and a belt that covers his entire stomach.
Capcom confirmed to GameSpot that the DmC Costume Pack DLC will be released on January 29 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in North America, with European PS3 owners having to wait an additional day. The new threads will cost 320 Microsoft points or $4.00/£3.19/€3.99.
The DmC costume pack is also being offered to anyone who pre-purchases the game on Steam ahead of its PC release on January 25, though a release date for the PC version of the DLC has not been specified.
DmC will also be receiving the free Bloody Palace DLC and the paid-for Vergil's Downfall DLC, which Capcom dubs an expansion, at the end of February.
DmC: Devil May Cry received an 8.0 in its GameSpot review, though Ninja Theory's design decisions are proving controversial with series fans despite the warm reception.

2 Like That's actually fairly well done, however, people DON'T seem to understand that just because Donte looks like Dante doesn't mean that he'll sound or act like him...
People just will not accept change. Then you give them what they want and it's still a problem. I like the old Dante and I like the new Dante. I like the new Vergil and I like the old Vergil. It's called a reboot. If you want the old story and the old Dante just go and buy the HD collection and leave this one alone. Don't bash on something that some people like just because you don't accept change.

I've been a Devil May Cry fan since 2004 and I thought this game was great, very enjoyable. The story was getting too convoluted in the original series, I welcomed the changes from the beginning.
All you guys chill the fuck out, I'm a huge devil may cry fan I'm mad too. But at least they are trying!

Considering you have only scored 1 game, DmC - a perfect 10, you have the DmC Dante as your avatar image and you only seem to comment on DmC articles, I assume you work for Capcom but I'm wrong, it's at least fair to say your love for this game is 'a little' abnormal.

2 Like I don't think Capcom should do this. They should stick to their original decision of changing the franchise. I know it's only a skin but it still feels like they're giving-in to the whiny little fanboys.

its still just the begining though but appearently its not doing quite so hot I guess major media reviews really don't mean anything.....
is this why they wanted dante to look different? because they knew people would prefer the original dante and end up buying this costume?

They didn't care that a lot of us loved Dante just as he was as well as his combat.It never was all about the look but lol NT and Capcom seem to want to put that DLC out there as a false apology and try to make themsevles look good in the media's eyes. Just when you think Capcon can't stiff gamers any more on DLC they're not offering the Dragon's Dogma DLC as a download... to get it you have to rebuy the game in the new re-release package... thanks Capcon.

2 Like So, let me get this straight. You guys are raging at Capcom for releasing DLC, when nearly every gaming company that is still running uses DLC??? People don't understand the concept of reboot meaning new. They didn't complain when they rebooted Batman, or James Bond. I know those are films but my point stands.
@JehutyEVA Bethesda games main RPGs ElderScrolls 4-5 and Fallout3-NV have dlc yes but at the same time the games have so many quests that they hold you over for quite sometime.As too if their DLC is on disc or not I do not know but at least the quests add more too the game than just extra costumes.Costumes don't equal gameplay.They don't even extend the games usage life.As for reboots.They're suppose stay true to the source material but be a little liberal.Batman Forever and Batman and Robin were the worst Batman movies ever.It was nothing like Tim Burton's films.Christopher Nolan did his thing but at the same time he stayed true to Batman's character and cast.Bruce Wayne is easily identifiable not just by name alone but his actions and his character.I am still impressed at Liam Neelson as Ras Al Ghul.The instant I saw the facial hair I knew right away who he way.The movies wasn't a stupid cheesy telling like BF and B&R. DmC isn't cheesy like those movies but that principle exists in a different manner. Vergil shot and killed an unarmed woman who was visibliy scared.Dante took the woman hostage at 1st.Kat is useless.She's not a strong character like Lady and Trish.And LOL at calling the game a reboot.The concept of Limbo is in Bayonetta and subliminal messages and media control are They Live.The game probably would sell better if Capcom had the intestinal fortitude to market and let NT make the gameThey Live instead of a DmC reboot.The game has Dante and Vergil and Mundus and Sparda is mentioned but those characters were bland.And Mundus was too much like the Kingpin(but on weight watchers) What truly killed it for me was watching Mundus losing his mate and child.It almost seemed like he truly was ready to make a fair exhcange.But I don't know it was totally a coward move of Dante and Vergil to stoop that low.Dark Knight Triliogy was a great reboot DmC no.

Your comment on the costumes As for the DLC, companies like bethesda do it best yes, but costumes are not a unique thing to gaming, and I don't understand why the costumes cause such controversy with this game. Look at DBZ:RB2 or Mortal Kombat (Yes they added a few things else but hey) and any of the other games that add costume dlc.
As for "And LOL at calling the game a reboot", it is a reboot, as it is... admittedly very liberal retelling of the game. Vergil would kill innocents, you have to remember that he is a douchebag.
Sparda didn't exactly appear much in the main series in the first place, he is mainly used as a plot device throughout the series and to give Dante some real backstory.
I understand the frustration at something new, but the thing is developers cannot keep playing safe all of the while, or development is not really possible. Risk taking is essential and in some cases it pays off, in others it doesn't. If humanity never took a risk we would still be sitting in caves, and quite clearly, most people find that DMC was an unsuccessful experiment. I would like to see if they could balance out these mistakes in the future. It is inevitable that the developers will want to continue with the DMC franchise, so i hope that they can pull a slight u-turn and better explain and flesh out the plot (Character Development opportunity?)
BTW, I totally agree about the Liam Neeson comment. He is a fucking legend.

@JehutyEVA Craig isn't a bad actor but neither is he James Bond. If no one complained before then I do now. Those films suck big time.
1 Like I'm not a fan of Craig as Bond either. Bond is a bit of a borderline example here (and hence, not the best example) as Craig's Bond movies are absent of a good amount of "Bond-ness" (at least the prior 2 movies are. I haven't seen Skyfall). But, some aspects are still nicely represented; just enough to not make them completely disappointing.....yet. there is a decline evident. At least It's not a purposeful "fuck the fans" aspect, which was another aspect of the DMC issue.
@JehutyEVA @leimonides as for Bond: I have heard that he most closely follows the books, and that's fine and all, but I believe, as more people identify with the "classic" (as I will call it for this conversation) they should had put something in the title and make it its own franchise. They started over anyway, why not make a distinction; another version, so to speak. The book is a different take than the classic movies, so let these Craig Bond movies be another string of difference in a more obvious way. Even with the changes in "Bond-ness", I still feel that these movies are too generic; they have no edge like the classic ones did; something that made them stand out and have their own personality from other action movies. The Craig Bond movies don't have their own personality from Amy other action movie, which is another reason they are quite dissapointing, "Book Bond" or otherwise.
@leimonides The bond-ness you refer to is because you are quite clearly accustomed to the films. Personally, i feel that Craig is the most accurate depiction of Bond, as he is not amazingly tall, he is blonde and does not use a copious amount of gadgetry, however that is a different argument.
The "fuck the fans" issue is, however a different matter. I do believe that the creator of DMC did actually disagree with the direction that Ninja Theory took the series with. I am starting to change my views slightly. I will not rage about this issue, however I am probably going to take my usual Irish approach and be completely neutral in my opinions, just defending the game on the "extreme" views. I mean come on, it's not THAT bad.
4 Like @JehutyEVA what happens when Hollywood adapts video games, let's use that example. Those two examples are quite a bit different because Batman still has what makes him him. The world is still respectfully presented and interpreted as it should be. They are not empty shells that destroyed the charms, hell persona; the little things that made the series what it was; what set it apart from similar options. Ninja theory completely destroyed everything that made Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry; tone, personality; all those little things, quirks, personality, and things you just can't quite put a finger on that made the series fun, have personality, have something different, if only a little bit. And that's aside from the story and lore that was completely destroyed (although recently they chalked those up to this game being a alternate universe). This is a bit of a bitch-slap, this dlc.
