In February, Variety's on-hiatus game blog reported that former Activision and Electronic Arts executive Kathy Vrabeck was in final negotiations with the Dark Knight production house Legendary Pictures to head up the film studio's games and digital entertainment arm. Today, Variety and the Los Angeles Times report that Legendary has officially named Vrabeck as head of the company's newly formed digital division.

Vrabeck boasts an extensive history within the game industry. Most recently, she served a brief stint as president of Electronic Arts' EA Casual label--which she mysteriously left last year shortly before it was quietly folded into the Sims Studio. Prior to that, she served as president of Activision Publishing from 2003 to 2005 after serving as executive vice president of worldwide publishing and global brand management at the publisher.

Legendary has a history of its own within the game industry. In March 2007, CEO Thomas Tull cofounded Brash Entertainment, an ill-fated movie-to-game migration publisher. Though Tull and his colleagues raised initial funding of some $400 million, the studio went bust by November 2008, with the Legendary exec exiting a month prior. Legendary is also attached to the big-screen adaptation of Epic's Gears of War, which is being directed by Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard, Underworld) and executive-produced by Epic design director Cliff Bleszinski.
