In a statement, Activision said it has "consolidated its studio and brand management operations." The lion's share of responsibility for Activision's publishing strategy is now in the hands of Kathy Vrabeck, former executive vice president of worldwide publishing and global brand management, who was promoted to president of Activision Publishing.

Although the company didn’t make much of Vrabeck's appointment until last Friday, it had been part of the company's SEC filing made public last month.

Vrabeck has much to look forward to in her new role. The statement went on to specify her duties, which stated she would "be a key dealmaker when it comes to inking contracts with Hollywood studios...and oversee Activision's product development activities worldwide, including research and development and product acquisitions, as well as the company's global brand management operation, which includes developing multi-tiered, cross-platform strategies for each brand, assembling and providing global marketing input for development projects and implementing all marketing activities in North America."
