Star Trek: D-A-C beams down to 360, PS3, PC
Downloadable movie tie-in to let players pilot Starfleet and Romulan forces in multiplayer melees.
When Paramount Pictures' Star Trek arrives in theaters on May 8, it will do so with the support of a game tie-in. Paramount Pictures announced today the downloadable space shooter Star Trek: D-A-C as a May release for the Xbox 360, with PlayStation 3 and PC editions to launch "shortly thereafter."
The game apparently derives its subtitle from the assortment of game modes it offers: Deathmatch (of the "team" variety), Assault, and Conquest. Each mode is playable solo or in competitive or cooperative multiplayer action for up to 12 aspiring commanders. Players will be able to take the helm of six different ships (three Starfleet, three Romulan) as they attempt to outmaneuver opponents and claim victory.
Although this is the first time that details about D-A-C have been confirmed, the game's existence was teased in March by a flyer to be included in the Season 1 Blu-ray set of the original Star Trek TV show. The flyer also indicated that the game was being developed by Naked Sky Entertainment, the studio behind the 2006 Unreal Engine 3-powered downloadable PC and Xbox 360 game RoboBlitz.
