In the past week, Nintendo has binged on new color reveals for its popular portable the Nintendo DS. On Friday, the hardware maker said that the limited-edition metallic-rose hue first seen as part of a Nintendogs bundle last year would become standard in the US, and earlier today, the publisher added red, turquoise, and green to the European DS palette.

Now, Sony is getting in the color-swap game. The hardware maker said today that it would be dressing up its PlayStation Portable in metallic blue as part of a limited-edition Madden NFL 09 bundle. The Madden NFL 09 PSP Entertainment Pack goes on sale alongside EA's latest annual football sim on August 12, and will retail for $199.99.

In addition to the blue PSP, a copy of Madden NFL 09 for the platform, and a 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, Sony's latest PSP bundle packs in a pair of multimedia extras. Warner Bros. and NFL Films' NFL: In Just One Play will come on a UMD disc, and features interviews and footage from a number of pro athletes, including Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, and Reggie Wayne.

The bundle will also include a voucher to download Beats from the PlayStation Network through the portable's PC hookup. According to Sony, the software uses beat-tracking technology to create gameplay from any song that the player supplies.

EA Tiburon's Madden NFL '09 will also be available on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Wii, and DS.
