Last week Sony announced that its next-gen console, the PlayStation 3, would be getting its own version of the PlayStation 2's EyeToy, simply called Eye. Today Sony made another camera confirmation, announcing that the PlayStation Portable peripheral Go! Cam will be released on May 16 across Europe and other PAL territories.

The camera, which can be twisted 180 degrees, will also have a microphone and up to two and a half hours worth of video recording time. When used with a 4GB memory stick, it can hold more than 40,000 photos. Go! Cam will also come bundled with the photo, video, and audio-editing software Go! Edit.

SCEE's PSP marketing manager, Stephane Hareau, commented, "With summer around the corner and the ability to turn your PSP into a mini camcorder and capture all the best moments in your life, this is yet another reason to get a PSP."

The Go! Cam will be released in PAL territories on May 16, at a price of £34.99 in the UK and 49.99 euros in Europe. The US price and release date is not yet known. Go! Cam was released in Japan last year under the name "Chotto Shot."
