Pikmin 2 improves on in everyway that made the original so great!

What an interesting way to play this game. I ordered the GC version off of eBay, and after E3 I saw that Pikmin 3 used the Wiimote controls, so I decided to get the Nintendo Selects version of it on launch day... and all I can say is, it's much better than the GameCube version.

Well, Olimar returns from the planet that he crash landed on, his boss is in debt, so Olimar and Louie return to the planet and with the help of Pikmin they acquire items which help them pay off their debt. That's the whole plot in the first five minutes pretty much.

I must say, I prefer the Wii controls over the GameCube controls. On the GC version, throwing Pikmin is much more difficult and requires more precision, while on the Wii version you can be doing something else and just point and press the A button. Moving the Pikmin around also takes much less effort, as you just hold down on the D-pad and move the pointer around, as compared to using the C-stick. Other than that, it is the same gameplay but with just upgraded controls that I find much better.

There are some very catchy tunes in this game, such as Awakening Wood sounding something like... let's see, THE PIKMIN 3 TRAILER? Well, I think so anyways. But at some parts there's not the greatest use of sound there, as in some sublevels of the dungeons (or whatever they're called).

The game is basically ten hours to finish your main objective which is collecting 10,000 Pokos. But after you pay off the debt, you have to return to the planet and find all of the last remaining treasures which adds tons of hours of gameplay to it, and plus, it's fun. It never seems like it's padding, it's 100 percent pure new things everywhere.

This game has high replay value I find. It seems like one of those games you can just pick up and replay any day just due to the amount of fun you can have with it, and you're also not pressured by a time / day limit which helps with the replayability... A LOT.

Overall, this game is a fantastic strategy game. It fixed up all of the problems with the first game (although there weren't many), but even where the original stood out as outstanding, Pikmin 2 took everything that was good about it and made it much better. If you're a true Nintendo fan, get this game. If you need a good Wii U launch game, then picking up this game will help you find the right choice.

+Awesome graphics
+Catchy tunes
+Perfect gameplay
+High replay value
