This game is not quite what i expected. The level of detail is very shallow and the game is actually pretty easy (almost too easy). The "EA All-Play" feature is nice for users who just want to play for fun without too many confusing controls and options, but will absolutely bore and frustrate an experienced football gamer. The controls take a little while to get used to, but it shouldn't take more than an hour to get the hang of things. The in-game help feature comes in handy for initially learning how to do everything. The celebration feature after scoring a touchdown gets annoying after a while, but it can be toggled on or off. There are no automatic replays for spectacular plays or for any plays; the user must manually do an instant replay, which takes away from the excitement of the game. Picking a play on either offense or defense is rather shallow, also. It is difficult to navigate through the playbook in time before the play clock runs out and the playbooks are not as deep as they should be. The dynasty feature is probably the best part of the game allowing the user to play through multiple seasons as the same school and recruiting to make sure the dynasty lives on. I'm glad I only rented this game and I hope this game is no indication of how Madden 09 is going to be.
