If you've exhausted your DBZ fighters and want something just as OTT, give this a whirl. You'll thank me later.
Anyway, to the game. It's a side-on fighter in a 3D world with items to aid you like in Super Smash Bros. The difference is that there aren't that many items to toy with, and there is only a total of 14 playable characters to choose from. But hey, what's there is fine by me, so not much is taken off for it. What made the DBZ fighters so good is the fact that when you engaged a special attack, you charge at your opponent and a usually long animation of the attack takes place. This also happens in this game, just not in the actual fighting venues that you fight in. And some of them (Kakashi and Orochimaru are my favourites!) are so insanely satisfying, you'll be enduring the useless (But thankfully skippable) cutscenes in the game's scenario mode to unlock the last 8 characters.
Unfortunately, the game's problems lie in the options available. Unless if you have a second controller, there's really only 3 modes to fight in: Practice, Scenario, and Mission; the latter of which is really, really hard. Considering this is a children's game, it's just astounding. Other than that, the only remaining problems are the lack of playable characters and variety in the fighting stages. But hey, if you've never seen Naruto, this is good to get you started. If you've loved Naruto since the beginning, then if you don't have this, why not?
