I enjoy racing games, but recent arcade racers have left me disappointed, and as a result I almost did not buy this one. Blur and Split Second went back to the store, and they left a bad taste in my mouth. No, I didn't try to eat them, that is a figure of speech.

I got this one and am not disappointed. The visuals are very cool. The course layouts are good, and the changing environments and weather are a blast to witness. In my opinion the situation is the star of the game. The situation of the current destruction of the city, and you are racing through it. I enjoy racing all the vehicles except the Monster truck. That one seemed like a chore.

The choice to have comic style cut scenes are not good at all. They serve no purpose whatsoever, and are annoying.
Also, I am curious why games in general do not have a dead zone adjustment in the options. The dead zone is a little too big for my taste, but there is nothing I can do about it. You get use to it, but I would rather adjust it if I could.

Make no mistake about it, it is not a simulator by any means, but an arcade racer, and it does it's job very well, and is a title I think I will keep.
