the producers of motorstrom have suddenly, i dont know, just got it so so right.....

User Rating: 9 | MotorStorm: Apocalypse PS3
i was not a fan of the first few motorstorms due to the loose steering and bad sense of speed, however motorstorm apocalypse is the most fun i've had on a racing game in years.

The Good: improved steering, better boost, outstanding scenaries, constantly changing courses are legendary, excellent visuals, awsome atmosphere, nice car models, boost ram is a nice small addition, new vehicle classes fit in well, collectable cards add something to replay for, people shooting and grenading you adds a sense of human danger, the customisation that is present is good, great sense of speed

The Bad: not much content aside from the main mode, no moddification at all in main mode and only visual in quick race, occasionally goes over the top on route width, crashes are cheap

I bet top dollar that no one could fly over the tops of buildings in a supercharged rally car with dust coming up from the shaking buildings, molotov cocktails looping over your head and skyscrapers collapsing over the route you where just about to take and not say that you didn't get an enrgy rush like no other before.... yes, it is really like that!
Whether your racing along a damp boardwork with a sunami approaching or desperately boosting across a rapidly collapsing suspension bridge apocalypse never lets you down.

Due to the conditions mentioned above motorstorm apocalypse is all about fast reflexes rather than slow paced route choice from motorstorm 1 and 2 but this is not too difficult, merely challenging. The begining of the game dosn't really do a very good job of impressing critical players, that said its not a bad start but its just not as action packed as the races a bit further in, though it does show of its fantastic track design and atmosphere. The tracks always feel very alive as even the scenary that dosn't block your path still moves, for example random houses will crumble beside the track that dont get in your way but do add realism to the track.

Motorstorms courses vary quite alot and every shaking town, collapsing bridge, crumbling tunnel, flooded beach village and faling skyscraper dash have multiple routes to take depending on your vehicles size, handling and speed. For example if your driving a light, fast bike then you should probably skip along the top of the building, cliff, multi story car park etc. however if you are driving a big, heavy big rig then you should chug through the tunel, under the car park, through the office etc.

The first 10 or so races are very easy for an expierienced racer however if you dont play many racing games then you'll probably find it just right, if you are good at racing then dont worry, it does get harder.

so apart from the occasional over narrow route or crushingly hard AI opponent motorstorm apocalypse has very few lows.
In conclusion, no matter what sort of racers you prefer, no matter what skill level your at, no matter how much you hated the other motorstorms apocalypse will blow your mind.

And if anyone knows people who helped make apocalypse then please ask them on my behalf how they went from a slightly above average off road racer to a epic adrenaline filled thrill ride!!!!!!!!
