2012 with monster trucks and choppers...

I found myself debating to pick up Motorstorm Apocalypse and I am glad I did. Never had I played a more intense racing game or one with such awesome level design. Racing on roof tops where you are drifting corners with your tires hanging inches over the side of a 100 story sky scraper is quite thrilling. Jumping through broken streets while army attack helicopters fire at you trying to kill you as you dodge their destruction is something out of a Bourne movie. Motorstorm has it all from well carried out arcade racing, immersive level design, and quality effects. Vehicle customization is just enough to make your favorite vehicle stand out amongst others and graphics are top notch. In fact my only real complaint about this game is the anime animated comic for a story. I would of rather preferred it actual computer animated cut scenes without the wacky anime characters rather then an animated comic. Yet despite falling short in the single player story, the races you take part in through single player are very diverse and challenging. Your reflexes will be tested navigating the winding and crumbling streets of a once serene metropolis. If you are a fan of racers I would pick this up for sure. It makes Split Second look like child's play. I have not played 3D but I can tell you this game is amazing in 2D I can only imagine how it is in 3D with collapsing sky scrapers and rockets being fired at you flying out of the screen. Motorstorm may very well be the best racing game to release yet this year. It will definitely hold you over for Twisted Metal this October.
