With the exception of Monster Hunter Tri, this game is the biggest MH game to date.

User Rating: 9.5 | Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G PSP
In this game, players customize a male or female character, go on dangerous quests, and bring home rewards and monster pelts to make better armor and weapons, which will thus enable them to take down bigger, meaner monsters.

This game rocks, as far as originality, design, and game-play. The animations are extremely fluid and realistic. The wyverns and other beasts move just as well, coupled by the surrounding level designs, which gives players a sense of realism. There's plenty to see and do, which also gives players a sense of mission and adventure in the untamed wilderness. And if you're looking for a game that involves killing other people or weapon-wielding creatures, then this may not be your forte'. But, I highly recommend this game to PSP owners who have the time and patience to master the art of this Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.

Now, I recommend this MH game as opposed to the other ones available on PSP, and for good reasons.

One, it is the biggest MH game to date, which means more levels, more monsters, and more customization than ever before.

Two, you now have the option of taking Felines on quests with you, which eliminates the lone-wolf feeling if you don't have other hunters to hunt with.

Three, it would make sense to buy this game, seeing how it is the latest in the portable series, with the exception of MHF 3 that will come out soon, but buy it, and make sure your friends buy it too so that you'll have someone to go on quests with. As the old saying goes, the more the merrier.

One last thing: This isn't just a game you can pop in and pop out with relative quickness... Unlike other titles, MH Freedom Unite is more of a sim/adventure/action/RPG/fantasy. The quests are timed at most 50 minutes for you to complete before losing to the monster(s). So take your time with this one and enjoy it. It will not disappoint. One of the best PSP games out there in my opinion.
