It May Not Be The Best Baseball Game Ever, But It's Still A Nice Little Pick-Me-Up For Some Instant Baseball Action

User Rating: 7.5 | MLB 2003 PS2
MLB 2004 may not be one of the best baseball games out there but it's a nice little game for its time that 989 sports developed. Vin Scully and Dave Campbell are calling the action here with basic play-by-plays and player info. The pitching mechanics work well as you can tell where your pitch is going to end up in advance in addition to manually moving the batter's eye to where your pitch is and controlling where you want your pitches to end up without getting random results. The fielding runs rather smoothly, despite some minor choppiness with the graphics, and the controls are satisfying to say the least: no sluggishness, no unresponsive actions, no strange button combinations, no loose feelings, etc. Other modes as homerun derby and season mode are easily accessable and still fun to play and the quick game mode is just your average little pick-me-up exhibition baseball game. Overall, MLB 2004 may be a simple pick-me-up of a baseball game, but it's easily accessable and offers no cheap shots nor does it throw any curveballs (no pun intended) to be unfair. It's worth checking out.
