In a sport where mechanics are essential, this game struggles to deliver.

User Rating: 7.5 | MLB 10: The Show PS3
I have been playing the MLB The Show series since the year it came out on PS2. While it has made significant improvements over the years, 2010 is the first game where it has felt like they have truly struggled. The graphics are as beautiful as ever, and a casual fan may not notice the sluggishness in game design. But a diehard fan will have trouble accepting it.

PROS:
- Beautiful graphics.
- Commentary and camera angles.
- Realistic ballparks, with "shadow effect" as the sun starts to set in places like New York and Cincinnati.
- Online multiplayer is smooth, no more "failure to connect" errors for those using a wireless router.
- Game highlights have a lot of depth and flexibility.
- "Schedule to put in game" feature maintains the energy of a pitcher in the bullpen while your team is at bat.

CONS:
- Fielding and running animations are sluggish. If you are running from 2nd to home on a 2-out fly ball, your runner will pause at 3rd briefly. Same thing if you catch a fly ball near the warning track. Your player will brace the wall and lose valuable time on the relay throw.
- Skipper leaves you in the game too long as a pitcher in Road to the Show. I had a 117-pitch complete game as a rookie in AA. Be realistic.
- Menu overlay is rough and tough to read in spots.
- Strike zone is very questionable.
- Too difficult for casual players.
