"Metroid Fusion is one of the best titles on the GBA, and out of the series."

User Rating: 9.3 | Metroid Fusion GBA
After finishing Metroid Prime, I had wanted more Metroid titles. It was going to be an interesting experience, as Metroid Fusion was a 2D side-scroller. Though, that didn’t stop me from buying it, as I LOVE side-scrollers! Surely enough after buying Metroid Fusion, I had loved it! In the beginning of the game, Samus has been attacked by a parasite known as “X.” The parasite has the ability to mimic the abilities of anything it infects, which almost kills Samus. Later on, Samus luckily is saved by a vaccine made from the DNA of the last Metroid, which is the parasite’s only natural predator. With limited abilities, Samus must travel through a research station in orbit around SR388 and exterminate the “X” parasite. During your journey, Samus must follow orders of a computer, which tells her where to go in order to reach certain items. Metroid Fusion has a couple of new abilities that weren’t in previous Metroid titles. She is able to climb ledges and fire new weapons like the Diffusion missiles. Other abilities such as the Morph Ball, Screw Attack and Wave Beam are also included from previous Metroid titles. The controls are essentially easy to learn and very basic. One of my favorite weapon features of the game is the Ice Beam, which is the ability to freeze your foes! The graphics are simply amazing. Very impressive for a GBA title. The background and environment was nicely done. The creatures in the game were a bit weird looking, but it fits in well for a Metroid title. The sound in the game was also done nicely. Sometimes when you encounter the “X” parasite, the music automatically changes to a suspenseful track that makes your heart beat really fast. The sound of the weapons also sounded decent. After about 4 and a half hour of playing, I was very satisfied with my purchase. Metroid Fusion surely deserves to be known as an excellent Metroid title. It’s currently my favorite on the GBA, and one of the best on the GBA altogether. If you’re a Metroid fan, you NEED to pick this one up….now!
