Arcade perfect ports doesnt always mean that it is ok for companies to sell an ancient game at a high price. Metal Slug is the stuff of legends and remains probably the best 2D shooter of all time (and also the most difficult). Fools like myself pumped 100s of bucks into Arcade machines to finish it but never did.

While the series got better (especially 4 & 5) it is beginning to show its age.
The graphics are still charming and the music is acceptable but the gameplay becomes repetitve and its more interesting to see how many continues you drill through rather than how many you escape from.

The lastability is tragic for the price and without a full arcade cabinet it does not measure up to its amusement counter-part.

If you love SNK games and and cherish their die hard attitude then buy this. Anyone who has never played Metal Slug before should avoid as you have missed the boat by several years and none of it will make sense to you any more, Alternatively download a NEO-GEO emulator and get the roms - it works out alot cheaper
