*****HOOPSTAR789's Review on Metal Gear Solid*****
1. GRAPHICS- Before there was Crysis and Call of duty, there was Metal Gear. This game has some of the best graphics ever for the ps1. The lighting effects are well done, the shadow effects are amazing, and even the charcter models look great. This game does an amazing job with the enviroment from the cracks in walls, to the footprints in the snow, and even the blizzard was right on. This game does suffer from FPS drops every now and then bt thats no bigge. This game looks great back then and Pick up a few PS1 titles and compare it to Metal Gear and see the big differnce.
2. GAMEPLAY- Since games nowadays use the analog sticks and the R1,R2,L1, and L2, I had sorta a rough time getting use to the direcitonal buttons again. But other then moving, the game is good.The A.I is also fantastic, the enemey will hunt you down no matter what and that really gets Fear in you. The boss fights are fun but challgeing. The gameplay in general is indeed really unique. From Stealth, to run and gun, to puzzle solving, and to even to takeing down a friggin helicopter. But a big factor to the Metal Gear title is that the game is all about 2 hours of gameplay and 4 hours of cutscenes. If you skip to the story once you have all ready beaten the game you can complete your second run threw in a matter of 2 hours. Other than that, the games is Solid like the title says.
3. STORY- This is were this game truly shines. This game's story is so good that I thought I was watching a movie. The Chacters are scripted to perfection and you really get attahced to them as they express there feelings and thoughts throughout the game. The Plot was crafted perfectly and whatever ending you get it is still very satifying to watch and you wish for more. But the game is very lenghty whic will have you playing until you beat it. This is a good thing and Im glad Hideo Kojima went threw all that trouble to make a masterpiece game.
4. OVERALL- Overall this game is truly Excellent, from the Stealth action gameplay, to the amazing visuals, and to the perfect Story, Metal Gear will have you comeing back again and again. This game has barley any flaws and is you can pick it up for around 2 dollars anywhere. I highly suggest that if you have never played Metal Gear that you picj it up and play it. This game is not to be missed even if it is 11 years old. Just like that old saying, Legends never Die and this game is truley Legendary.
