The Great Snake truly makes his debut IMO.

Metal Gear Solid 2 is one of the best games out for the PS2. It starts to tell the story of the "Patriots & Son's of Liberty" and bridge the earlier Metal Gears on it's way to 3 & 4. 2 is a bit of a mess story wise. Yes some of it makes sense, but to truly put it all together you need to play 3 & 4. 2 perfects the art of "stealth combat", introduces many characters that will play a part in the overall arc of the story. The setting, mostly on an oil rig type platform is not overall varied, but accomplishes everything it needs to and more. The boss fights are well spread out, and the difficulty is just right for each one as the game progresses. Stealth is of the essence here, and there will be trial and error areas that from time to time will test your patience, but the right way to accomplish the task is usually fairly obvious. This brilliant game sets you up perfectly for 3 & 4, which is how I played it last. Playing all 3 in a row is a treat, and makes the incredible overall story make much more sense. If you've never tried the MGS series, grab 2 & 3 out of your local bargin bin and then tackle the brilliance of MGS4.
