Medal of Honor: European Assault: It's good but is it good enough?

User Rating: 7.5 | Medal of Honor: European Assault PS2
After the success of MOH Frontline came the god awful Rising Sun and it was clear that something needed to be done. The question is have they done enough with the latest title?

As some of you will know the team behind MOH FrontLine jumped ship to work on the Call Of Duty Finest Hour game for developers Spark and the publisher Activision leaving the best of the rest to work on MOH Rising Sun for Electronic Arts, only there best of the rest were not really up to the task until now.

MOH European Assault has changed all that for the better! The graphics aren't great when compared with Call Of Duty 2 The Big Red One but there not a million miles apart. On the Audio front, EA have done a good job with decent acting. The AI has been greatly improved so now they no longer run at you like crazed idiots. The biggest improvements however come from the level designs as they are much more open and don't restrict the player to a single path as much as previous titles and the control system has been improved as well.

The main bulk of the game comes from the story mode but it's not really that long and neither is it all the good as it doesn't link very well at all. On the journey you will be joined by a three man squad to command but you get the feeling it was a bit of an after thought by the developers as the commands are very basic and don't work as well as the one found Brothers In Arms Road to Hill 30. However you don't need to worry about them at all as they will just follow you and can surprising look after them self very well for the most part. I do recommend keeping them in good shape however as by doing so you earn bonus med kits at the end to help in the following mission.

Conclusion: MOH European Assault has a half descent single-player campaign even if it is rather small. A good few hours of enjoyment can be had and if like me you're into traditional WWII shooters then of course it's worth a look.
