sad for a once great franchise
The actual game play is not hard to master, it would take most gamers round 30 seconds (a minuet if your retarded.) Also it seems as if the lasers and the ballistic weapons are identical save for the graphics. The rockets are impressive looking but are easily avoided if u duck behind a building even though they are designed to home in on you (our armed forces used better rockets in Vietnam.) Seldom do you run out of ammo so the idea of ammo conservation is non-existent here. Each new level tries to mix it up but when you have finished one level you have finished them all very repetitive game play. In some levels where the mixing up happens you don what is essentially power ranger armor or you get a tank or you get a helicopter…. I bought this to play with big robots give me my goddamn robots! Finally the most frustration part of this game is the last big boss battle is fought using the power ranger armor not one of big f---ing robots that you bought this game to play with… I just want my bight f---ing robots! What was and still is a gold mine of fiction, the ‘mech warrior series has already been written and the game translates poorly what is a fantastic adventure. The idea that 4 lame ass characters with no depth can defeat the word of Blake who has taken over the better part of the galaxy is preposterous. It took victor Stiner Davion and Devilin Stone (oh yeah and the combined arms of umm … oh yea, every one) to wipe out that threat. This game should not be sold on the pure fact that it is a total corruption of the really cool story that it is. All in all the game play is ok not great but the story is lame sauce multiplayer is more of the same nothing is really outstanding there either. If you’re a fan of mech warrior go back and play mech warrior 3, if you’re a gamer in the summer w/ a free rental at blockbuster and have played all the other games you might as well but I wouldn’t hold my breath
