A good example of a sequel that improves on just about everything. Army of Zin is definitely worth a try.
The story follows the events of the first game. Maximo has teamed up with Grim in the search for his love Sophia, who like most love interests, always seem to be in another castle. All the while, a 500 year old army has been resurrected and it's up to Maximo and the Grim Reaper to stop them before they destory everything.
Much like the first, Army of Zin doesn't waste too much time with the story and the bits of info it does give you, aren't all that interesting. What makes Maximo great is the game play. Many things have been made easier for the player. Maximo no longer loses his power-ups in death and more so, his abilities are more useful tan ever. You can even choose from two different styles of weapon. Death coins are now directly lives, so no more continues. Just an instant Game Over. This kind of balances itself out with the fact that unlike the first game, you can now sabe free of charge whenever you want, in between levels.
Visually, Army of Zin is much more appealing. There are a great variety of enemies and NPCs spread out across the levels. Level Mastery is still put into play and now you not only have to kill every enemy and collect every bit of treasure to master a level, you must also rescue innocents caught in the action who repay you with rewards and hints.
A lot more love has been put into this game and it's especially evident in how every aspect has been improved. You can now control camera movement. Combat is much more engaging now that you can perform powerful flashy combos, and even the music has been improved setting a much darker and more serious tone.
Overall, Maxim vs Army of Zin is a gtreat game. Capcom improved every aspect that left Ghosts to Glory dragging behind and really pulled through delivering a sequel that is truly better, more fun and a lot more engaging. I give it an 8 because it's relatively short for an action adventure game and for being punishingly difficult to play regardless of the difficulty setting you choose. Yet, one of the most unfortunate of all its cons is the fact that Maximo, apart from being downright awful from a narrative standpoint, doesn't inspire too much interest in the protagonist. He isn't very deep and the story is too cliché and washed out. Regardless, Army of Zin stands as a good game because of its playability, humorous style and for giving you so many different bóxers to wear in your fight against evil!
