A game that lacks originality. Nuff said.

User Rating: 5.3 | Mario Party 5 GC
I loved Mario Parties, but when I played this game for about a week, it was a complete disappoint ment. The only lackluster aspects are the short story mode, luck mini games, and the over all looks:

Story Mode: Grade:F-: The story mode was only good for the first two hours at most. I hate the fact that I have to fight the same koopa kid gang in each level. It is so annoying that it is like chasing off Team Rocket in a pokemon episode. No more Waluigi, No more Yoshi to compete against. No! Just those three brats. It is just an elimination round of duel minigames to get the most coins from the koopa kid bunch and knock each one out. It is most pestering when all the minigames these days arte all about sheer luck. There is this one minigame that is about pulling a string to see who gets the better result to win. That is just unethical. Mario Party lost its ideas.

Multiplayer: Grade: A-: This is the only redeeming quality about this game. The duel minigames might have sucked but that doesn't mean that the others do. There are so many tournaments and minigame modes that would be fun to compete against a friend. Since this is the only good part of this game, I can only recommend this game as a rental.

Looks:Grade:C-: C'mon Nintendo! Mario is a big boy now! Mario games are too sugar coated with rainbows and butterflies now days it just makes me want to vomit. No wonder Nintendo is losing to the huge competition between PS2 and XBOX. In my opinion, Mario needs to be a little more hip and gangster to gain some appeal. I don't want to be embarassed playing this game with my teenage friends so it is better off a children's game.

All I can say is that Mario Party should have died after the fourth one. If you want a Mario Party, do it with the N64. Sheesh, I'm surprised the series got this far. Please rent! No buy!
