It's only worth playing Mario Kart on Multiplayer. Single player doesn't cut it.

I can get bored quite easily with racing games if I'm just playing on my own. But I rarely had a chance to play on my own with Mario Kart. There was always someone there too challenge me, to race against. This is best as a multiplayer game. It's the only way to play it and at that, it has been one of the more fun multiplayer racing games.

The graphics on all Nintendo 64 games have a quality that suggests Nintendo. This is no different in the range. Simply hands down this has good graphics. Each character looks good, the tracks look good and all the obstructions look good. There is only one niggle when you hit the side of the track, you get stuck. Then you can see the corners of the programming and I really hate seeing corners of the game.

I always assumed Mario would be a good driver, maybe I was wrong. But each character in this game seem to have their own abilities and certain characters are better than others. For instance the fastest and the best characters in the game have to be Toad, Yoshi and Peach. Then you have the big guns like Wario, Donkey and Bowser who can barge you off the track. After them all that is left is Mario and Luigi who are only good on tracks that have proper tarmac.

I actually find the sounds in Mario Kart rather annoying so always the volume on the TV is down rather low. The music was kind of lame and the sound effect from each character also seemed stupid. I really couldn't stand the music.

Playing the actual tracks took a little while to get use too. But then again, you can learn them fairly quickly. It was easy to learn the game and that does set in back a bit in terms of single player. There really isn't much depth to the game and you have to wait for friends to come round. Just so you can pick up the specials and blast each other off the track! I did love the specials and I liked the lightning one the best. Simply because you can run everyone else over once you have used it.

There really is nothing too taxing about the game and there is only a short week worth of gameplay on single player. Certainly the last ability only works on multiplayer and that only gives Mario Kart a partial score. Even the extra Battle feature couldn't save this game from the slightly lower mark of what I am giving. But still there is certainly some fun here and I am not saying this game is terrible. So I am just going to say this is terrible in single player mode!!
