100 Days of Strategy Goodness

User Rating: 8.5 | Lock's Quest DS
I just finished Lock's Quest over the weekend after starting it a few months ago. I got stuck in the game at Day 36, so I took a break and played through Zelda.

Lock's Quest is a great game and I highly enjoyed beating it. Anyone who is a strategy game fan will enjoy this game. You start by setting up your defenses, then defend and/or attack, then fix your defenses, and cycle through another couple times until you complete the map. As you go through the game you update your defenses with better cannons, stronger walls, helper robots, etc. You can also play a mini game where you defend the main city walls with a cannon. The mini game is good for building up source, so you can build more during the actual story mode of the game.

The game is very well paced and hard to put the game down until you complete a map. The different segments of each map take about 3 minutes. You get 3 minutes to set up your defenses, 3 minutes to defend your area, and then another 2 or 3 minutes to reset your defenses. You can play this game for short periods of time, but you will have to have a lot of will power. Day 36 is very difficult to beat and there are a few other days along the way that are challenging, but overall it only takes 1 or 2 times to get through each segment.

The game's story is quite interesting and you can read about it in the Gamespot review. The ending was quite remarkable with some great twists. You really get a chance to learn who the main characters are as you progress through the game.

There is some replay value to the game, but I have other games to tackle first.
