- It has good moments but nothing significant
Knack is a PS4 exclusive game. The genre of this game can be described as a platformer game with 2D-3D blend fixed camera angle. You do not have to worry about moving the camera while you play because it's fixed. Without going into assumptions, you could say that the reason that the designers wanted to do so is to give a fresh twist to platform games. But you can also say that another reason is to showcase the beautiful graphics and scenery the PS4 has to offer. While it may look simple and easy to play, the truth is the gaming level you will face is hard. Perfectly made to inspire the most hardcore gamers as well as the casuals to play it. Sometimes it only takes three, two or even one hit to knock you out. There are a few variations when it comes to attack and defend. Punch, jump and roll-attack your opponents are the basics. You also gain special abilities while progressing through the game, like range-attack with supersonic-like blast, transform yourself into a whirlwind and collect relics to make you bigger, gaining more power to defeat enemies easier and getting strong enough to absorb heavy attacks that otherwise can knock you out with a single hit. When it comes to defend yourself, you just need to move constantly and learn the enemies routines to avoid get hit. There are a lot of different enemies and all of them attack differently and with variable damages outputs. A good tip to consider is to learn your enemies attack as much as you can before going running blindly pushing forward attacking like you are in a rush. If you do so, you're just going to keep repeating the same thing (die and restart checkpoint) over and over again. There is also the "dodge" movement that allows you avoid an inevitable hit. But it's limited so use it as a reminder that you need to be cleverer. This game is fun to play. It is also repetitive but keep in mind that ALL games are repetitive in a way. Remember, if you play smart you won't notice the repetitiveness so much. It is about how much progress you can do in a single life. If you get to feel the repetitiveness of this game it is probably because you are like other several people that doesn't pay attention and die 30 times in the same chapter. And more than 100 times by the end of the game. Play smart and you will get the most out of this game.
