This game's combat system is incredible, and it's graphics are first-rate (for PSP games, anyway).

This game is terrific! It is, by far among my top ten favorite games (and believe me; I've played alot of games). I used to have the original Kingdom Hearts and it was actually more enveloping and pure fun, but the combat system system in this game is amazing. In the first game, all you could do is push the attack button and use your items and one special attack that was just called "magic." In Birth by Sleep however; you have a custom "deck" of commands that you build from attacks that you can collect from enemys and treasure chests. You move around with the analog nub and navigate the command deck with the arrow keys pressing X for attacks and triangle for command deck attacks. One of the coolest new features is the ability to change "command styles." Changing command styles gives you a powerful new ordinary attack that has massive combo capabilities. You activate command styles by using certain command deck attacks in filling up the Finish Gauge (normally a full finish gauge means that you can use your finishing move). It's an RPG-style game, but is completely story-driven, leaving little freedom to simply go and train to level up. The only real reason I gave this game less than a perfect ten is because the game has a very short storyline and VERY little replay value. But make no mistake; you want this game.
