Katamari Forever isnt anything new, but its still great fun

User Rating: 8.5 | Katamari Damacy Tribute PS3
Graphics (9.35/10): I have always found the Katamari series to be oddly wonderful and extremely quirky, something which drew me to the original release, surprisingly, almost 4 years ago. I fondly remember seeing the most obscure box art at my local game rental store and being intrigued by, what seemed to be a ball w/ an assortment of objects attached to it, Katamari Forever certainly has that same appeal, while looking like the best game in the series, it's a considerable improvement over the other games and looks absolutely amazing in 1080p, this game was made for blu-ray/HD. Katamari Forever though, as with the rest of the games in the series is far from not being broken, even annoyingly so at times, this is on a next gen. console and certain things should just not happen anymore – the most annoying in my opinion is getting stuck in/or between objects.

Story (7.5/10): Katamari Forever is NOT a new game. Yes it has SOME new levels, but really, they are few and far between and anything that is new, plays off old concepts. This is where the game is hurt the most, especially if you are not already a fan of the series (in fact I would suggest a 6/10 if you are not). Again, this series is showing its age and is way too short, especially for a next gen. console. This game really is for hardcore fans or new comers.

Sound (10/10): As usual this game delivers an amazing, offbeat soundtrack, something the series has become quite known for. If you're a fan of the series, you'll need no further explanation.

Game Play (9.5/10): I have rated EVERY Katamari game a 10/10 until this one and by no means is 9.5 a bad score, but this concept is old and the game is just completely rehashing old, over-used ideas. Katamari Forever is still way fun and extremely addictive, if you can get past the fact its been done before, this is probably one of the most fun games you'll play this year. (Again if you are not a fan of the series, I wouldn't be 100% sure where to rate this game in terms of game play for you, but I'd probably say an 8.0/10)

Overall (8.65/10): Katamari Forever is fun and really is a beautiful looking game – thank you NAMCO/BANDAI, but it is certainly not without its flaws, this may be the best looking and sounding game in the series, but it certainly suffers from broken physics and the fact, that its all been done before. As far as this video game series goes, I hope this is the coup de gras, it really has nowhere else to go from here, Id certainly love to see some new stuff from the creators – Nobi Nobi Boy was a great star.

*Seeing as this has come up several times during the review, if you are not a fan of the series I would say this game would receive a 7.5/10 for you.
