*****REVIEW*****

Jak is back, and this time… he's pissed. It's Jak and Daxter meet Grand Theft Auto, without the Daxter?

Jak 2 is the sequel the pervious Jak and Daxter with a lot of changes. Daxter is no longer in the title, the game-play has changed, the game is set for mild teens, the story is dark, Jak is badass, and he can speak? Jak 2 definitely took a big leap of faith in a different direction, and it came out great.

The story is dark and unexpected in Jak 2 after play the first. Once again you play Jak, and like the first game, our tiny friend Daxter will accompany you however, Jak is no long the same hero we remember from the first game. After the incident at the end of the previous game, Jak and Daxter where sent separated through time lost in a mysterious city, far from home. Daxter awoke to find himself in a strange city. Daxter spent two years living on the streets after Jak was captured by an unknown organization. Two years Jak spent in a cold, dark jail cell, while Daxter tried to survive on the streets by drinking from puddles, dodging traffic and eating leftover food whiles trying to find his buddy Jak. Subjected to torturous experiments, Jak's body was warped by dark Eco. Daxter finally managed to find Jak and freed his from his torment, and Jak graces us with his first words,
"I'm going to kill Praxis!"
Now Jak is back, and he's going to get even. Driven by a burning rage, nothing is going to stand in Jak's way as he seeks revenge, but a hero's destiny is never straightforward. This journey of retribution is about to become an adventure that will change the world, and our two heroes forever.

So Jak is back with a beard and he's pissed.

Welcome to Haven City. Haven City is a bustling, overpopulated place. There are people everywhere trying to go about their daily business without attracting the attentions of the Krimzon Guards. Jak will come in contact with loads of characters as he explores the city, some will help him, some won't, and some will have their own private agendas.
The tyrannical Baron Praxis governs the city and the ordinary folk live under his dictatorial rule, in fear of his notoriously short temper. The Baron's Krimzon Guards patrol the streets, stamping their authority at every opportunity of misdemeanours.
Outside the city feel apart. A dark wasteland stretches for as far as the eye can see. Few people are brave enough to venture into the wastelands, for fear of attack by the Metal Heads, crazed brutal creatures that began besieging the city for some time.
It's fair to say that wherever Jak and Daxter have ended up, is not a pleasant place at all.

The game-play has change since the last game. Jak can still do everything he could do in his previous adventure, but this time he has more tricks up his sleeve. The game follows the same concept as of Grand Theft Auto. You can drive (YES DRIVE), steal or highjack vehicles, doing so may attract Krimzon Guard to come chasing after you. You have a whole load of arsenal to aid you against your enemies. Jak can search, smash, punch, kick and grab his way through an adventure that combines platform exploration, combat and relentless action. You have a large city to explore and to wreak mayhem. The game-play is all mission based. You drive over to a mission icon on the map to accept a mission and there varied depending on you, much like Grand Theft Auto. In order to proceed in the story and to different locations in the city, you will need to complete a variety of mission to unlock clearness to proceed through Haven City.
Jak has a hiding power, thanks to the torturous experiments done by Praxis. During his time in prison, Jak was subjected to regular experiments where he was injected with an extract of Dark Eco. The effects went almost unnoticed at first, but Jak's body has begun to change.
Now, whenever Jak is exposed to Dark Eco, his rage festers and grows. If he reaches a certain rage threshold, he can choose to transform into Dark Jak, wreaking havoc on all around his, which is freaking awesome. Dark Jak boost up your strength and turns you into berserk mode for a short time, which again is awesome

The sound-effect are good and the voice acting is superb that really take the game and the story seriously.

Overall Jak II is a great game. Yes Jak and Daxter has changed in game-play, graphics, story, even the name Jak and Daxter is no more, and in some many different levels, Jak 2 could even be considered as better than the original. But to me, the first Jak and Daxter will always be the best in the series. Some missions can be irritating and annoying at time. But the game is worth the play indeed.
