A great start to my personal favorite platformer series for the PS2.

User Rating: 8.5 | Jak and Daxter: the Precursor Legacy PS2
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy is simply put,an amazing game!Naughty Dog did a tremendous job in delivering the PS2's killer platformer. The story, very entertaining, humorous, and kid friendly. It starts off with two young boys/men,Jak and Daxter,as they mysteriously roam in a place they shouldn't be.While watching the villains of the game speak to their "henchmen",Daxter, not trying to,falls into a pool of "dark eco".Eco is sort of the main life force, like the Greeks Fire,Wind,Water, and Earth kinda thing.Anyway, when Daxter fell into the dark eco,he turned into a rat-weasel like creature,Jak feeling bad for Daxter, since it was sorta his fault ,helps Daxter to try and return to his former self. The story is very neat, has lots of enjoyable characters, and is very memorable.

The graphics, wow! All the models are very smooth, the frame rate-rock solid, the level design-genius,very creative. One aspect of this section that really blows a lot of people,is the fact that there is zero to no load screens. That truly is great.Everything else in this portion of the game is quite well done.

The voice acting and soundtrack is very good. The soundtrack has a funky beat,or a serious tone, either way,the music always fits the level or scene well. The voice acting is well done.and all the actors take their roles seriously, because they did an impressive job.The dialogue is extremely humorous, and well written.

The game play is excellent, and for the time, was similar to other platformers like the hugely successful Super Mario 64,and Banjo Kazooie 64.The platforming is very fun, with the level design being so good. There are also many collectibles, which adds a bit of reply value for perfectionists, like me.The controls are rock solid, and don't feel cheap. The combat is ripped right from the original Crash Bandicoot trilogy for PS1,so its pretty simple. The boss fights are pretty creative too.The over all game is what you'd expect from a 2001 platformer, but it provides a lot more than the bar was set at during that time.

Final Verdict:This title in the Jak and Daxter franchise is most definitely the most kid friendly, and a fun game in its own right.
