There's something in this game that makes it different than the usual turn-based strategy game.

Ahh, Metavira. The island full of trees that can you produce you a great amount of money. Wait a second, did I say trees? Well, yes. That's because they are yellow trees...

You have been hired to take care of the situation in Metavira. The situation is very critical, since you only occupy one sector in the island, and the business that keeps the island alive, is about to shrink away. Someone is behind this, and that someone also commands the army that has conquered nearly every part of the island. It's time to stand against this unknown force!

As the game proceeds and you conquer back a few sectors, you'll be aware that there really is someone behind all of this. Therefore your mission is rather simple: dispose of the leader at once. Lock and load!

I don't know why, but games with intriguing world maps intrigue me as well. Jagged Alliance sure has a island full of secrets and tactical situations. In this game, you control mercenaries, which you can hire from a service called A.I.M. They offer a wide selection of warriors, strong and weak, expensive and cheap. Others are good in shooting, others defuse bombs and some people are just useful to fix stuff. Medics are also necessary, unless you have such a luck, that won't take a single shot during the game..

The playing system is pretty nice. You select the mercenary you want to control, and everyone of those have a certain amount of points for every turn so you'll have to think what you're gonna do during the turn. Okay, and here comes thing that makes Jagged Alliance into its own trademark:

The mercenaries have personalities. Every mercenary have their own faces and voices, and habits. This is truly amazing and makes an unique atmosphere in the game like no other. Sir-Tech sure hit the pot with this.

There is an average selection of weaponry in the game. S&W Revolver .38, Colt .45, Beretta 9mm, Magnum .457, Shotgun and and a pump action shotgun, M14 and M16. Also, there are grenades and other explosives within. I'd have hoped for more weapons, but the game is very old so it' can be forgiven.

Jagged Alliance can be considered as a true classic. That's why I recommend everyone to try this out, who like at least a bit the strategy -genre. A true gem.
