Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi: Kaznapped is a fun game that sticks true to the cartoon's style.
The game starts out with Harmony, Ami and Yumi's number one fan, visiting Ami and Yumi. Harmony asks if she could go on tour with Ami and Yumi. Ami and Yumi tell her she can't, so Harmony decides to go on her own tour. Harmony takes Ami and Yumi's instruments along with their manager, Kaz. So it's up to Ami and Yumi to chase down Harmony and get their instruments and manager back. I thought the story was good and it felt like a plot right out of the cartoon.
In this game, players choose to be either Ami and Yumi, and make their way through each world. Each world features three areas filled with obstacles, music notes to collect, and enemies. Enemies include Kaz-Bots, fans, paparazzi and characters from the world Ami and Yumi are on. Most enemies can be taken out with Ami's microphone or Yumi's guitar (possibly the only instruments they have left). There are certain obstacles that only one character can over come, so players need to switch characters. The game has its share of puzzles in each area, which was nice to have in each world. Finally, in between worlds the game features a shooter where players control Ami and Yumi's tour bus and take out enemies and a boss. I thought this game was a pretty fun side scroller, with some really fun shooter parts.
The graphics in this game stay very true to the cartoon. Each world looks colorful and look like something right out of the cartoon. Characters also look excellent, and Ami and Yumi are also nicely animated. The sound effects are good, but the music in this game was great. I also found some of the songs catchy.
I enjoyed Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi: Kaznapped a lot. It was fun and captures the cartoon very well in my opinion. My recommendation, if you like the cartoon, definitely try to check this game out. The style, story, and gameplay may be entertaining to anyone who enjoys the cartoon. If you don't like the cartoon, maybe this game is not for you.
