User Rating: 6.5 | Heavenly Sword PS3
The story begins with Bohan's army coming to take the fabled Heavenly Sword from Nariko and her father Shen. It seems later in the game that he really just wants the sword for a simple artifact, a treasure. He then is granted great powers from a raven to destroy Nariko and the Heavenly powers the sword has given her.

Heavenly Sword's action relies heavily on chaining combos together in lengthy button sequences. The game falls very short here. A lot of enemies have very strong blocking abilities, and most of the time, the only way to undo their blocking is by a block-breaking combo. However, by the time the enemies block is broken, they are too far away to start inflicting mass amounts of other combos upon them, or they die half through it.

Another factor is the games length. Completion of the games normal and "hell" modes would take a seasoned gamer maybe 6 to 8 hours at best. And when you consider the games launch point of 60 dollars, and even today it still costs 50, it is a complete and utter lack of value.

The graphics do attempt to shine, and they would, but sadly a very poor frame-rate deters them from being anything truly special. Quite often they dip well below what the PS3 is capable of, and it was very surprising since it only runs at 720p.

Do yourself a favor and go play God of War/2. This game borrows heavily a lot of mechanics from it, but sadly comes nowhere near the greatness.
