I paid $60 for all original guild wars and have easily 5000+ hours of enjoyment. Guild wars 2 is shaping up so nicely, i cannot wait for release, already pre-purchased.

We explore the starting areas for the Norn and human races in a Guild Wars 2 beta.
@Albaficas. besides what Kooken58 said you must be insane to compare the enormous failure rift was to GW2, and on the other hand ur comment about the art styles between GW2 and SWTOR is irrelevent because there soppose to have different art styles GW went for the more animated comicy style and Star wars went a more realistic art style people have to stop comparing games like that when they obviously have the style they have because they chose for it to be that way.
i don't see much Harmony between the characters and the world SWTOR does a lot ., they know better how to play with lightings but it still better than the Disabled WOW Mists of Pandarian
first day purchase for me, loved GW1 and all the expansions! its cool how it wont be instanced anymore :)
@Albaficas Uh I think you have no clue what you are talking about...I wont argue that you may have played at gamescon. But being able to apply for beta was just offered 2 days ago...there was no way you were invited to beta 4 days ago...Considering they prolly arnt even inviting people yet even today. Also another thing, Guild wars 1 was instanced...if you knew anything about guild wars 2 you would know right off the bat it is a persistent world. And GW2's dynamic events are far different from Rifts. All it takes is like 5 minutes of research to figure that one out...In rift, random mobs spawn out of rifts around the world, you kill it, it closes or spreads some...end of story. GW2 dynamic events often have multiple things going on, they often use the Pirate taking over a village reference...Kill the pirates put out the fires and save the village...fail to do so and the pirates can completly take over the town...does that sound anything like Rifts events?
Alot of hype and seemingly some innovative new things on tap but the video is very un-impressive to me. Movement animations were terrible, I call them the old board hockey game movements. Not making any drastic statements but that was nothing to get excited about and the way it looks is important to me.
@Gliave It's a beta genius, betas are works in progress. We've seen the type of art it WILL have, so we know this isn't the final product. some people expect so much..
Games that my girl will hate: Guildwars2, Diablo 3, and DOTA2. Games that I will love: Guildwars2, Diablo3, and DOTA2.
Sheesh....At least explain what the interface holds first...?? I'm sure there's a sprint button there that the dumb trucks that u r didn't bother to check out. What else is that stamina bar on the right side of the action bar?
Wow, way to go making the game look like crap right off the bat....How bout u "prepare" before airing a demo next time around... Or are demotions an incentive nowadays...?
good lord could these commentators be any more dull? Maybe its just me, but after watching MikeB's GW2 videos, listening to these guys is torture. Also, are these people even gamers? Never seen so much keyboard turning and ability mouse clicking in my life. Sad that these "professionals" are what amounts to a game reviewer these days. These guys need to go back to beta testing Farmville and leave the MMO's to actual gamers, who...you know...have played an MMO before.
@ramhole, Yeah, but if you're going to be staring at someone's a$$ for 90% of a game, which would YOU rather look at? :P
Lol. The contrast in the video is fun. Nicely done. I especially like the beginning where the two mini windows show the style of the game's intros without giving them away. I am going to hold off watching the videos as long as I can resist and hope GS puts up an article with impressions. I don't want to know the starting story before I even get a chance to play the demo.
@supertom221 I agree. I play the original GW and it is fun. It forces you to think about what you're doing, what skills to bring, and how to utilize them. From what I played on the WoW trial, you get a ridiculous amount of skills, you go through a boring noob area, which was more boring to me than GW1's starting areas, and it's a subscription grind fest? No thanks. What I like the most about GW2 so far is that the microtransactions will be for better looking armor and cosmectic changes. It's not the freemium model where people who pay money get a better edge in battle. I can't wait for the beta. It's gonna be awesome.
Guild Wars was probably the most profitable MMO ever made for the players. Think about it-- you pay 60$, ONE TIME ONLY, And in return you recieve a well polished game with a great budget and countless hours of enjoyment for years!. Compare that to WOW which not only has dated graphics, but overall a very exceedingly boring world that it's expansions only made it worse overtime. And if that's not enough-- 15$ a month. If that isn't a steal, I don't know what is. This game is worth every penny.
@Albaficas My friend rift was released on march 2011... GW2 was announced in 2007... do the math. STWOR animation? rlly? how can you call that an animation they r NOT organic.
@AzaiS Agreed! Posted the same thing a bunch of times already. Though people will hear what they want to hear. Looking forward to Guild Wars 2 and Diablo 3 (though guild wars 2 is FAR more compelling to me) downloaded on my strong comp. Max settings ftw!!!:XD
WTHECK!! Am I the only one who can't view this video? It's stuck at buffering no matter how many times I refresh it!
Dunno what haters or fanboys saying. This will be the next big thing after WoW. Doesnt mean necessarily it needs to surpass 12million active players at some time of its life to declare winner imo. All it needs to do its to age well and keep an active base of 6-7million. Im pretty sure they will deliver. My only concern up until now is high end gaming. Weve seen few things and thats key to keep players playing. In the end of the day is free 2 play ( no subs ) means there will be some players that will play when they feel like it once in a while. Thats also good. Anyways icant wait. Instant buy this and diablo 3
Why do they even show the Norn guy playing.... im going to walk around for 10 mins "trying to get a feel for the game"... boring go learn the game then show us gameplay we actually want to see. kthx
@Albaficas instanced mmo ? ?? Dude, you like it or not, you have no idea of what you are talking about...seriuosly. Honestly you didn't play GW2 ever , that comment you just made confirms it.
Pretty polished new gameplay features pretty graphics nice lore well its the best mmo out there i think
@Gelugon_baat No problem. Just wanted to get that out there because the NCsoft turns a lot of people off for some reason.... lol!
I don't like the human girl running thats the only complaint the animation cycle is not bad but, I think its to match the other races and sizes in speed as you see the Nord has a better weight feel on it... the environment reminds me Warhammer great fog effects end well designed... for those comparing these games Rift and Warhammer they have the SAME approach but GW2 just took too long to be released to be innovative... but they have all the credits over their own systems. I dont see any "action" interaction on those who are playing no one is dodging all stand still taking hits... not sure if it worked as it should... a must play anyway!
@Albaficas, If you'd actually played GW2, you'd know that it was no longer instanced. Second, the animations look smoother than most MMO's out. You fail all around.
Elrax relax fangirl chill.... i played gw2 at gamescom and was invated in beta 4 days ago....so ya i might know something u just a fangirl...u wont accept a negative thing for ur precious instanced mmo like it or no admit it or no kid this game animation SUCKS and are exactly like swtor and RIFT, pve of gw2 is almost same as RIFT..u can whine all u want about HOW GREAT gw2 is and all...but if u think this game will revolutionize the genre keep dreaming kid. this game will be ok for a f2p game thats it.
@Albaficas Are you an idiot? Have you been even following GW2? If not, don't post crap about something you don't know, if you are then you should know that when GW2 was still in development so was RIFT. They just have similar concepts. However ArenaNet is doing it differently from RIFT by having it as their quest system, unlike RIFT. Also, GW2 has always had this system in place since ArenaNet released public info about the game.
I don't think it's just to compain about animations when GW is about the first MMO to actually attempt an 'active' battle system, including dodges, instead of the standard 'target' battle system. Furthermore, huge character customization makes it a huge time investment to animate everything perfectly, and we all know that time is limited. On a sidenote, That dude complaing about the quest, he walked past the mob to kill when entered the border of the questzone....
It's so easy to sell ****, even though I love the Guild Wars franchise. damn you mainstream... damn you. Anything sells nowadays... people eat that **** up.
The GW2 video starts with a Star Wars Old Republic advert. Now there's some back-handed competitive add placement for you. Lol.
Guild Wars 2 Hype is overrated? **** no. You must dreaming. It'll be the game to beat, in the F2P realm.
